Overview

A 25 mm on-metal UHF RFID disc for longer reads

The IDTS-D25 is a 25 mm round black PCB tag, 4 mm at its highest point, listed at approximately 4 m when mounted on metal. Of the IDTS round discs from 5 mm to 28 mm, it has the longest listed range, so it is the one to choose when a disc suits the asset but you still want to read from several metres away.

Fixing on cylinders, panels and tools

The two 3.2 mm through-holes are copper-plated and spaced 19.5 mm apart, for a screw or rivet on each side. Typical places for a disc this size are the collar or shoulder of an industrial gas cylinder, a switchgear door, a motor housing or the body of a jig, where a 90 mm bar would overhang.

Before you roll out

Cylinders and machines vary in curvature and in how much metal surrounds the tag, so test a sample on your own asset with your own reader. Our gas cylinder tracking guide explains fill-cycle traceability, and more shapes are listed under PCB and ceramic RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • Gas cylinder collars
  • Tool crib inventory
  • Switchgear and feeder pillars
  • Motors and gearboxes
  • Moulds and fixtures
  • Returnable metal bins

Frequently asked questions

Does the IDTS-D25 read on a gas cylinder?
It is an anti-metal tag designed for metal surfaces such as cylinder collars and shoulders, and is listed at approximately 4 m on metal. Curvature, mounting position and the reader all affect the result, so trial it on your cylinders first.
How is the IDTS-D25 mounted?
Through two copper-plated 3.2 mm through-holes spaced 19.5 mm apart, using screws or rivets. Mechanical fixing holds better than adhesive on assets that are washed, handled roughly or moved often.
IDTS-D25 or IDTS-D28: which should I choose?
The D25 is 25 mm across, 4 mm thick and listed at about 4 m on metal. The D28 is 28 mm across but only 2.6 mm thick, and listed at about 3.5 m. Choose the D25 for range and the D28 for the lowest profile.
What temperature range does it cover?
It is rated to operate from −20 °C to +150 °C, which covers cold storage as well as assets that warm up in normal service.
Which readers can read it?
Any ISO 18000-6C (EPC Gen2) UHF reader working in India’s 865–868 MHz band, whether handheld, fixed or desktop.
