Overview

A 20 mm on-metal RFID disc tag that reads from a few metres

The IDTS-D20 is a 20 mm round PCB disc for reading at a distance rather than close up. It is listed at approximately 3.5 m on metal, so a handheld user can count tagged tools, panels or valves from a few metres away instead of touching each one. The chip sits under a raised black dome, 4 mm at its highest point, which protects it from knocks.

Two-point mounting

Two 3.2 mm holes, 14.5 mm apart, take a screw or rivet on each side. 3.2 mm is a common clearance size for M3 screws, so standard hardware usually fits. A two-point fixing also stops the tag rotating on vibrating machinery.

Where it fits in the disc range

Choose the D20 when the item has a 20 mm flat face and a 12 mm disc does not give enough range. For a lower profile at a similar listed range, the 28 mm IDTS-D28 is 2.6 mm thick; for a little more distance, the 25 mm IDTS-D25 is listed at about 4 m. Bar tags and other formats are under PCB and ceramic RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • Torque wrenches and press tools
  • Cylinder valve guards
  • Distribution boards
  • Jigs and moulds
  • Server racks and UPS cabinets
  • Stainless trolleys

Frequently asked questions

How far does the IDTS-D20 read on metal?
It is listed at approximately 3.5 m while mounted on metal. Reader power, antenna, orientation and nearby metal all affect the figure, so test a sample on your own asset.
How is the 20 mm disc fixed to an asset?
Through two 3.2 mm holes spaced 14.5 mm apart, with a screw or rivet in each. That holds better than adhesive on assets exposed to oil, heat or heavy handling.
What temperature can the IDTS-D20 take?
It is rated to operate from −20 °C to +150 °C, covering cold stores as well as equipment that runs warm in normal service.
Which reader should I pair it with?
Any ISO 18000-6C (EPC Gen2) UHF reader for India’s 865–868 MHz band. A UHF handheld reader suits tool and asset counts; fixed readers suit doorways and checkpoints.
Can the D20 be supplied pre-encoded?
Yes. The 128-bit EPC can be encoded with your asset numbers before dispatch; the 96-bit TID remains a unique factory ID. Mention it when you request a quote.
