IDTS-D12 12 mm PCB Anti-Metal UHF RFID Tag - 4 mm Thick, 2 mm Screw Holes, Tool & Asset Tracking

The IDTS-D12 from IDentium is a fingertip-sized anti-metal UHF RFID tag built on a PCB substrate. The round disc measures just 12 mm across and 4 mm thick at its highest point, with a central recess and two 2 mm through-holes spaced 8.5 mm apart for screw mounting. It is made to be fixed straight onto metal - the surface that normally kills RFID performance - and still return a read of approx. 2 m on metal. When you need to serialise small metal items that a label or a large hard tag simply will not fit, this is the size class to reach for.

Applications

  • Tool cribs and workshops - spanners, torque wrenches, sockets and hand tools in railway sheds, manufacturing plants and MRO stores, where a 12 mm disc can be screwed to a shank or handle collar without unbalancing the tool.
  • Jigs, fixtures, dies and moulds - shop-floor tooling that needs a permanent identity for issue, return and preventive-maintenance records.
  • IT asset audits - server rack rails, switches, patch panels, UPS units and metal enclosures, where the tag mounts into an existing screw position during the audit round.
  • Utilities and electrical assets - distribution boards, switchgear cabinets, meter housings and small panel fittings that are inspected on a fixed cycle.
  • Valves, fittings and cylinder hardware - valve bodies, flanges, pipe fittings, gas cylinder neck rings and valve guards in plant and gas-distribution operations.
  • Pharma and QC instrumentation - calibration masters, gauges, test instruments and small stainless items tracked against calibration due dates.
  • Returnable metal handling equipment - small trays, tote bins, trolleys and stillages moving between warehouse aisles and production lines.

Why Choose This Tag

  • Works where ordinary tags fail. It is an anti-metal design, so it is intended to sit directly on a metal asset and still deliver approx. 2 m on metal rather than losing the read entirely.
  • Genuinely small. A 12 mm diameter, 4 mm thick disc fits tool shanks, panel corners, valve bodies and instrument housings where a credit-card-sized hard tag has nowhere to go.
  • Bolted down, not stuck down. Two 2 mm through-holes at 8.5 mm spacing let you screw the tag into place, which suits assets that are handled, cleaned or moved constantly.
  • Broad temperature window. Rated for -20 C to +150 C, covering cold stores at one end and hot process areas at the other.
  • Standards-based and serialisable. ISO18000-6C with a U8 chip, 128-bit EPC and 96-bit TID, so it encodes to your existing numbering scheme and works with standard UHF handhelds and fixed readers.

Read range figures are typical values, not maximums. Actual performance varies with the reader and antenna used, transmit power, tag orientation, the mounting surface and the surrounding environment. We recommend a site trial on your own assets before bulk deployment.

Frequently asked questions

Can the IDTS-D12 be screwed onto a metal part?

Yes. The disc carries two 2 mm through holes spaced 8.5 mm apart, so it screws down for a permanent fixing on small metal items. It measures 12 mm across and 4 mm thick at its highest point, with a central recess, which lets it sit neatly where a large hard tag would simply not fit.

What read range does it give on metal?

It returns a read of approximately 2 m while fixed directly to metal, which is the surface that normally kills RFID performance. That is achieved by the anti-metal PCB construction rather than a paper label. Distance in practice depends on your reader, antenna and the asset itself, so testing a sample first is worthwhile.

Which readers and frequencies is it compatible with?

It is a passive UHF tag for the Indian 865 to 867 MHz band, which is WPC approved and licence free within notified limits and sits inside ETSI 865 to 868 MHz. It therefore works with standard Indian handheld and fixed UHF readers, and with ETSI readers across the EU, UK, GCC and much of Africa.

How much does the IDTS-D12 cost in quantity?

Cost depends on the quantity you need, so please check the price listed here or request a bulk quote for your project volume.
