Animal & Pet RFID Tags

Ear tags, implantable microchips and collar tags for livestock, pets and stray-animal programmes, with the reader that scans them. Microchips follow the ISO 11784/11785 FDX-B standard at 134.2 kHz; ear tags come in UHF (read from a distance as animals pass) and HF (read at the animal). Prices per tag plus GST, minimum order 500 pcs.

Ear tag, microchip or collar tag

Ear tags for herds

The UHF RFID animal ear tag is read hands-free at 1–3 m as cattle, sheep and goats pass a gate, chute or weighbridge. The HF animal ear tag is read one animal at a time with a 13.56 MHz reader and can carry a laser-engraved number.

Implantable microchip

The IDTS-AMC134 microchip with syringe is a 134.2 kHz FDX-B glass transponder to ISO 11784/11785, for pets, livestock, laboratory animals and fish. It is read with an FDX-B reader such as the RA91.

Collar tag for pets

The NFC pet identification tag hangs on a collar. Anyone who finds the dog or cat taps it with a phone and the owner's contact or pet profile opens.

134.2 kHz FDX-B microchips (ISO 11784/11785)

ISO 11784 defines the 15-digit identification number and ISO 11785 the 134.2 kHz air interface that animal microchips and their readers share, so a chip implanted by one clinic can be read by another. The IDTS-AMC134 follows this standard: a bioglass capsule with an anti-migration coating, in 2.12 × 12 mm, 1.4 × 8 mm and 1.25 × 7 mm sizes, supplied loaded in a sterile single-use syringe. The 15-digit code is printed as a barcode on the pack for the registration record. Price: price on request.

UHF and HF ear tags for herds

Choose UHF when animals are counted as they walk past a reader: the UHF ear tag works on India's 865–868 MHz band (EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C) and lists a read range of 1–3 m. It is a flag-and-button matched pair in UV- and chemical-resistant HDPE / TPU, rated IP67 and -20 °C to +70 °C, in six colours. Choose HF when each animal is handled individually, at a milking stall or a vaccination point: the HF ear tag is a round TPU tag with a 13.56 MHz chip and an optional laser-engraved barcode and variable number, so the animal is identified by RFID and by eye.

Readers for animal tags

The RA91 animal tag reader reads FDX-B and EMID tags to ISO 11784/11785 at 134.2 kHz and 125 kHz: a 2–12 mm glass-tube implant at more than 15 cm and a 30 mm ear tag at more than 25 cm. It also scans 1D and 2D barcodes, has an OLED display and connects by cable, 2.4G wireless or Bluetooth. ₹14,500 + GST, minimum order 1 unit. UHF ear tags are read by any UHF handheld reader or a fixed reader at the gate; HF ear tags need a 13.56 MHz HF reader.

Temperature monitoring with BLE ear tags

For herd health rather than identification, the ID-BLE-E59 Bluetooth ear tag measures the ear-surface temperature of cattle and sheep, with optional step counting, and broadcasts readings to an ID-BGW-02 gateway up to 70 m away in open line of sight. It runs on a CR2032 cell (about 2.35 years at its stated duty cycle), is IP68 and is fitted with a standard ear-tag applicator. ₹1,250 + GST, minimum order 100 pcs.

Frequently asked questions

Which frequency do animal microchips use?
134.2 kHz, under ISO 11784/11785 with FDX-B signalling. That is the standard pet and livestock microchips and their readers share, so the IDTS-AMC134 is read by any FDX-B reader, including the RA91.
Can a UHF ear tag be read without touching the animal?
Yes. The UHF ear tag lists a read range of 1–3 m, so animals are counted as they pass a reader at a gate or chute; the exact distance depends on the reader, antenna and tag position. The HF ear tag is read at the animal.
Is the microchip reader the same as a card reader?
No. The RA91 reads 134.2 kHz and 125 kHz low-frequency animal tags (FDX-B and EMID). It does not read 13.56 MHz or UHF tags, so the HF ear tag needs an HF reader and the UHF ear tag a UHF reader.
What is the minimum order?
Ear tags, microchips and pet tags: 500 pcs. The RA91 reader: 1 unit. The BLE temperature ear tag: 100 pcs.
Do you print numbers on ear tags?
The HF ear tag offers a laser-engraved barcode and variable number. On the UHF ear tag the number is encoded in the chip's EPC memory alongside a unique TID; tell us in the enquiry if you also need it printed on the tag.
