Choosing a BLE wearable or work card

These tags locate people rather than things. Each has a rechargeable Li-Po battery, broadcasts iBeacon and Eddystone, is configured from the Identium Connect app (Android) and is read by ID-BGW-02 gateways. The S25 and C08 cards are AOA-capable, so with ID-AOA-GW25 anchors they can also be located to under a metre.

How to choose

  • Card or tag. Where staff already wear an ID card on a lanyard, a card badge is the natural fit. The W16 is a small round lanyard tag, IP67, with accelerometer support.
  • S25 or C08. Both are AOA-capable badges. The S25 is thinner and lighter, IP67, with a longer rating. The C08 adds RFID tag support and a scan + broadcast mode, rated 0.5 years broadcasting (0 dBm / 500 ms) or about 30 days scanning and broadcasting.
  • Wrist-worn. The W61 bracelet is IP66, black, with an optional accelerometer.
  • Alerts. The B50 comes as the B50-SOS with a red SOS button, or the B50 with an on/off function button.

Rated life depends on settings: a shorter broadcast interval gives fresher locations but drains the battery faster.

Where they are used

Typical uses include personnel management on large industrial sites, patrol and attendance check-in, and staff location in hospitals, elderly care, factories and data centres.

What to order alongside

Ceiling-mounted ID-BGW-02 gateways give zone-level presence. Add ID-AOA-GW25 anchors where S25 or C08 wearers must be located to under a metre. For asset tags, see BLE beacons and asset tags; for system planning, see BLE beacons and AOA positioning.

Frequently asked questions

Which wearables can be located to under a metre?
The S25 and C08 work cards are AOA-capable and give sub-metre positions with ID-AOA-GW25 anchors. The W16, W61 and B50 are used in RSSI mode with ID-BGW-02 gateways for zone-level location.
What is the difference between the S25 and C08 work cards?
The S25 is 4.3 mm thick, 20 g and IP67, rated three years at 0 dBm / 500 ms. The C08 is 7 mm and 42 g, adds RFID tag support and a scan + broadcast mode, and is rated 0.5 years broadcasting at 0 dBm / 500 ms or 30 days in scan + broadcast mode.
How long does the battery last?
Rated life is three years standby for the W16 and B50 (0 dBm / 10 s) and the W61 (0 dBm / 500 ms), three years for the S25 (0 dBm / 500 ms) and 0.5 years for the C08 (0 dBm / 500 ms, broadcast only; about 30 days in scan + broadcast mode). Faster broadcast intervals and higher transmit power shorten it.
Can the C08 card work with our RFID access or attendance readers?
The C08 combines BLE with RFID tag support. The RFID type is not listed in its specifications, so tell us which readers it must work with when you request a quote and we will confirm.
How is an SOS press from the B50 handled?
The B50-SOS has a red SOS button. How the press is flagged in its broadcast is not documented in its specifications, so confirm with us how it appears in ID-BGW-02 data and how it can raise an alert in Identium's platform, which supports alerts, or in your own software.
