What the ID-AOA-GW25 Bluetooth AOA anchor does
The ID-AOA-GW25 is a Bluetooth Angle-of-Arrival (AOA) anchor for indoor real-time location. A phased antenna array in its 18 × 18 × 4 cm housing measures the angle at which each broadcast from an AOA-capable beacon arrives, and the system turns those angles into a position fix accurate to 0.1–1 m, depending on mounting height and layout. Tracking by signal strength (RSSI) with ordinary gateways only places a tag within about 10 m.

AOA is the practical middle ground: far better accuracy than RSSI zoning, while the tags keep beacon-class cost and battery life. Wi-Fi and UWB tags draw 10–25 times as much power. The trade-off is a new layer of anchor infrastructure.
Planning anchor coverage
The anchor is ceiling- or side-mounted. Its coverage radius is up to about twice the installation height, so an anchor on a 3 m ceiling covers a circle of up to about 6 m radius. Larger floors are covered by tiling several anchors. Each one runs on standard PoE or a DC supply, and the IP66 housing is rated for -20 °C to +60 °C.
Tags that work with it
Sub-metre fixes need an AOA-capable tag. In the Identium range these are the ID-BLE-L01 industrial beacon, the compact ID-BLE-B22, the ID-BLE-A07 and A20 anti-tamper asset tags, the ID-BLE-S25 and C08 work cards, and the ID-BLE-X11 buzzer beacon. The same tags also work in plain RSSI mode with ID-BGW-02 gateways, so you can pilot a site with RSSI zones and add anchors only where sub-metre position matters, without re-tagging.
From anchor to live map
Anchors report angle data to the positioning server or cloud. Identium's RTLS platform shows tags on a live map, manages anchors, tags, asset bindings, zones and alerts, and forwards events over MQTT, UDP or HTTP to MES, ERP and asset-management systems. In a hospital, for example, staff wearing work cards and equipment carrying AOA tags can be placed in the right room or bay rather than just the right wing.
The number of anchors depends on ceiling height and floor layout; plan coverage from a floor plan and the mounting height.

How accurate is the ID-AOA-GW25?
It is specified for 0.1–1 m positioning accuracy with AOA-capable tags. Results on site depend on mounting height, anchor spacing and floor layout. For comparison, RSSI tracking with gateways alone is around 10 m.
