A BLE buzzer beacon for finding assets and people

The ID-BLE-X11 is a Bluetooth Low Energy beacon that can be heard and seen, not just detected. Inside its transparent housing are a buzzer and an LED: when a find-me alert reaches the tag, it sounds and lights up, so the searcher walks straight to the trolley, toolbox or instrument case.

Between alerts it works like any other beacon in the range, broadcasting iBeacon and Eddystone frames on the licence-exempt 2.4 GHz band (2400–2483.5 MHz) with a range of 70 m in open space. Settings are made from the Identium Connect mobile app.

How it is read and located

• Zone level: ID-BGW-02 BLE gateways pick up its broadcasts and report them over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G for RSSI-based zone positioning. Phones with a beacon app can detect it too.
• Sub-metre: the X11 is one of the AOA-capable models, so ID-AOA-GW25 anchors can fix its position to within a metre. The same tag can start on RSSI and move to AOA later without re-tagging.

The map gets the searcher to the right area; the buzzer and light finish the job at close range.

Power and battery planning

It runs on a replaceable CR2477 coin cell (1000 mAh, 3 V) with a 31.4 µA standby draw. The buzzer and LED draw far more, so battery life depends mostly on how often alerts run.

X11 or a silent asset tag?

Choose the X11 where staff regularly hunt for one specific item or person. If you only need an asset's zone, a silent tag from our BLE beacons and asset tags range is simpler.
