BLE gateways or AOA anchors
Both listen for Bluetooth tag broadcasts and pass them to a server, but they answer different questions. A gateway reports which tags are near it and how strong their signal is, which supports zone presence and RSSI positioning. An anchor measures the angle each signal arrives from and resolves positions to under a metre.

ID-BGW-02 Bluetooth gateway
The gateway supports Bluetooth 4.2 / 5.0 with an integrated PA and LNA. It scans more than 300 devices a second, caches 5,000 per cycle and holds 20 concurrent connections at 30–50 m, so it can also command connectable tags. Data goes to your server over UDP, TCP or MQTT in JSON or HEX, filtered by name, RSSI or MAC address. Versions: -P (indoor, Wi-Fi), -PC (indoor, 4G), -M (outdoor metal, Wi-Fi) and -MC (outdoor metal, 4G), each with an Ethernet port.
ID-AOA-GW25 AOA anchor
The anchor is ceiling- or side-mounted and reports angle data to the positioning server. Several anchors tile a larger floor, each covering the radius shown in the table. Sub-metre fixes need AOA-capable tags: the ID-BLE-L01, B22, A07, A20, S25, C08 and X11.
How to choose and plan
- Zone or point. If you need to know which room or zone a tag is in, use gateways. If you need its spot on the floor, use anchors.
- Mix both. AOA-capable tags also work in RSSI mode, so gateways can cover the site and anchors only the zones that need precision.
- Backhaul. Where there is no network cable, choose a Wi-Fi or 4G gateway version.
- Layout. Share drawings and ceiling heights when you ask for a quote so receiver counts can be planned.

Frequently asked questions
What network connection does the ID-BGW-02 need?
It has an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n); the -PC and -MC versions add 4G. It sends data over UDP, TCP or MQTT in JSON or HEX format, and is powered by PoE (IEEE 802.3at) or a DC adapter.
Can I send gateway data to my own server or software?
Yes. The gateway pushes to the server you choose over UDP, TCP or MQTT, and an SDK and debugging tools are available. Identium's platform can also forward events over MQTT, UDP or HTTP to MES, ERP or asset systems.
How many AOA anchors do I need?
Each ID-AOA-GW25 covers a radius of up to about twice its installation height, so a 3 m ceiling gives roughly a 6 m radius. Larger areas are tiled with several anchors; share your floor plan and ceiling heights for a layout.
Do AOA anchors work with every BLE beacon?
The anchor accepts BT 4.0+ beacons and phones, but sub-metre AOA fixes are documented only for the seven AOA-capable models: ID-BLE-L01, B22, A07, A20, S25, C08 and X11. Other beacons are tracked in RSSI mode with ID-BGW-02 gateways; check with us before planning AOA around phones.
Is there an outdoor gateway?
Yes. The ID-BGW-02-M (Wi-Fi) and -MC (4G) are outdoor versions in a 153 × 137 × 97 mm metal case, rated −20 °C to +70 °C, and ship with mounting accessories.
