How remote-controlled LED wristbands work

Each guest wears a light-up wristband with four RGB LEDs. A controller at the production desk sends colour and effect commands over 433 MHz to every band in range, rated up to 1000 m in open space, so the whole crowd lights up together. The bands are split into up to 10 zones, so different blocks of seats can show different colours, or a wave can run across the venue.

The IDTS-LWC10 controller can be run by hand from its zone, colour and effect buttons, or connected to a DMX512 lighting console so the wristbands follow the same cues as the stage lights. Its audio input makes the bands flash with the music.

Three LED wristbands

Silicone, remote-controlled

The IDTS-LWB15R is a translucent silicone band in adult and children's sizes, with a screw-fixed battery cover. It suits concerts, stadium shows and weddings.

Hook-and-loop strap

The IDTS-LWB52 has a nylon strap that fits adults and children and can carry a laser-engraved logo. Without the controller it also has sound-activated and button modes.

Sound-activated

The IDTS-LWB15S needs no controller or app; it flashes with music and voices. It suits birthday parties, school events and club nights.

Planning LED wristbands for an event

  • Zones. Decide which blocks of the audience should light differently. Zone allocation is agreed with us before the event.
  • Coverage. The bands are rated up to 1000 m in open space. Roofs, walls and dense crowds reduce this, so share the venue layout and we will advise on controller and antenna placement.
  • Battery life. Two CR2032 cells give about 4–6 hours of continuous light. The remote-controlled bands ship with cells fitted and a pull-tab, and their cells can be replaced, so the bands can be reused.
  • Frequency. 433 MHz is standard; a 2.4 GHz version adds Bluetooth app control. Order the controller and the bands on the same frequency.
  • Branding. Full-colour logo printing on the housing, a choice of band colours, and laser engraving on hook-and-loop straps.

LED wristbands with an RFID or NFC chip

An RFID/NFC chip can be built into the LED wristband on request, so the same band handles entry, access zones or cashless payments as well as the light show. The chip type is confirmed in the quotation. For bands used only for access, see our RFID wristbands and the RFID event management solution.

Frequently asked questions

Do LED wristbands need a controller?
The IDTS-LWB15R and IDTS-LWB52 are remote-controlled and use the IDTS-LWC10 controller for a synchronised show; the IDTS-LWB52 also has sound-activated and button modes. The IDTS-LWB15S is sound-activated and needs no controller or app.
How far does the controller reach?
The remote-controlled wristbands are rated for up to 1000 m in open space. Roofs, walls and crowds reduce this, so send us the venue layout and we will advise on controller and antenna placement.
How long do the batteries last?
Two CR2032 cells give about 4–6 hours of continuous light, and up to 8–10 hours on lighter modes; standby lasts up to 6 days. On the remote-controlled bands the cells are replaceable, so the bands can be reused at the next event.
Can you print our logo on the wristbands?
Yes. Logos are printed in full colour on the housing (about 36 × 30 mm on the silicone bands), band colours can be chosen, and the hook-and-loop strap can also carry a laser-engraved logo. Send your artwork with the enquiry.
Can the controller connect to our lighting desk?
Yes. The IDTS-LWC10 has DMX512 inputs and outputs (3-pin and 5-pin), so it can run under a DMX lighting console. The wristband system uses 40 DMX channels across 10 zones.
