Overview

What the IDTS-LWC10 LED wristband controller does

The IDTS-LWC10 is the transmitter for our remote-controlled LED wristbands. The audience wears the bands; the controller sits at the lighting or sound desk and tells the bands, zone by zone, which colour to show and which effect to run. Together they make the crowd part of the stage lighting at concerts and stadium shows.

It works in three ways: on its own, driven by a lighting desk over DMX512, or from an audio feed so the bands flash to the music.

Running a show from the front panel

Without a console, the operator works straight from the panel. Give each block of seats its own colour from the zone buttons, or run a wave across zones 1–10 so the colour sweeps through the crowd. Which bands belong to which zone is agreed with us before the event.

Where it sits in a DMX512 rig

On a programmed show, the controller is one more link in the DMX chain: the console feeds it, and its DMX out carries the signal on to the next fixture. Allow 40 channels for the wristband system and its 10 zones when you patch. Your DMX LED wristbands then follow the same cues as the stage lights.

Music sync through audio in

Feed music into the 3.5 mm audio in from a mixer or playback device, and the wristbands flash with the beat. This suits weddings and sangeet nights, college fests and DJ sets where nobody is running programmed cues.

Setting up at the venue

  1. Power. Run the controller from a 12 V DC adapter at the desk.
  2. Antenna. Fit the external antenna to the BNC connector and use its magnetic base to place it high, with a clear view of the audience.
  3. Frequency. The controller and the bands must be on the same frequency, 433 MHz or 2.4 GHz, so order them together.
  4. Coverage. The bands are rated up to 1000 m in open space; walls, stage structures and dense crowds reduce that in practice.

Which wristbands it drives

The IDTS-LWC10 drives the silicone IDTS-LWB15R and the IDTS-LWB52 on a hook-and-loop strap. The sound-activated IDTS-LWB15S does not use a controller: it reacts to the sound around it, which suits smaller parties without a control desk.

Frequently asked questions

Does the IDTS-LWC10 work without a lighting console?
Yes. It runs on its own: use the front-panel zone, colour and effect buttons to set colours and effects zone by zone. A DMX512 console or an audio feed is optional.
Can it connect to our DMX desk?
Yes. DMX in and out are on both 3-pin and 5-pin sockets, so it plugs into the desk's DMX line whichever connector your rig uses.
How far does the LED wristband remote reach?
The wristbands are rated up to 1000 m in open space. Send us the venue layout with your enquiry and we can discuss antenna placement and zones.
Should we choose 433 MHz or 2.4 GHz?
433 MHz is the standard version. A 2.4 GHz version is available on request, and on the wristbands it also adds Bluetooth / phone-app control.
