A compact AOA BLE beacon for smaller equipment

The ID-BLE-B22 brings Bluetooth AOA support to a Ø 48 × 17 mm round housing, sealed to IP68 and powered by a replaceable CR2477 coin cell (1000 mAh). The cell is rated for up to 5 years at 0 dBm / 500 ms, and the beacon operates from -40 °C to +85 °C. Its small round body suits instruments, tools and hospital equipment.

Start with RSSI, add AOA later

A B22 project can begin as a small pilot. The tag supports the iBeacon and Eddystone formats with up to 100 m range in open space, and ID-BGW-02 BLE gateways listen for it and report each sighting over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G, so your software can place it in a zone by signal strength. Once the pilot proves the case, fit ID-AOA-GW25 AOA anchors over the areas that need finer detail: they read the angle of each broadcast and locate the same B22 tags to within a metre, with no re-tagging. Smartphones can also pick up its broadcasts directly.

Mounting and motion versions

• B22: plain round housing.
• B22-E: ears for screwing the tag to a cabinet, trolley or wall.
• B22-A: built-in accelerometer, for kit that moves between rooms or departments.

How the B22 compares with the T03

The ID-BLE-T03 has the same Ø 48 × 17 mm size and CR2477 cell but no AOA support. Choose the B22 when AOA positioning is on your roadmap, and the T03 for plain RSSI tracking and proximity use. On site, the Identium Connect mobile app adjusts the B22's interval and transmit power. Tags on CR2032 cells and beacons on ER14250 cells are listed alongside it in BLE beacons and asset tags.
