Overview

What the IDTS-6020-LED on-metal LED RFID tag does

In a crowded rack of switches or a drawer of tooling, a reader can tell you a tag is in range but not which item carries it. The IDTS-6020-LED answers that with a small LED on the tag itself. When the tag is read the LED lights, and it can be seen from about 2 m, so the operator confirms the right item by looking at the asset rather than at the handheld screen.

Built for metal, kept compact

This is an anti-metal PCB tag of 60 × 20 mm, only 2.5 mm at its highest point. Two 4 mm holes, 54 mm apart, take screws or rivets, so it stays on tool bodies, rack frames and panels. Read range is approx. 5 m on metal; the 2 m figure is how far the light is visible, not a read distance.

Memory for on-tag records

The KX2005X-BL chip offers a 96–240-bit EPC, a 96-bit TID and 1312 bits of user memory, room for a plant code, calibration date or department reference alongside the asset number. It is rated for −20 °C to +150 °C. For audit routines that use tags like this, read our fixed asset audit guide or compare other PCB and ceramic RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • Tool crib tooling
  • Dense IT racks
  • Switches and patch panels
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Stainless process trolleys
  • Locating single assets

Frequently asked questions

What is the LED on the IDTS-6020-LED for?
It lights when the tag is read, giving a visual confirmation at the asset itself. That helps you pick out one item in a dense row of racks, tools or panels without checking the reader screen.
Is the 2 m LED distance the read range?
No. The tag reads at approx. 5 m on metal. The 2 m figure is how far away the lit LED can be seen. Actual read range depends on the reader, antenna, power and mounting surface.
Will my reader light the LED?
The LED lights when the tag is interrogated. With LED tags, the reader software normally chooses which tag to address, for example by selecting its EPC in a "find item" function. Test a sample with your own reader and software before a large order.
Can it be mounted straight onto steel?
Yes. It is an anti-metal design meant to be fixed directly to metal using the two 4 mm screw holes, 54 mm apart.
What can I store in the user memory?
The 1312 bits of user memory can hold short records such as a plant code, service date or owning department, written with any ISO 18000-6C reader that supports user-memory writes.
