Overview

A small on-metal UHF RFID tag that reads at 2.5 m

The IDTS-1307 measures 13 × 7 mm, 3 mm thick at the body and 4.3 mm over the epoxy dome that protects the chip. Its quoted read distance is approx. 2.5 m on metal. Compared with approx. 1.5 m for the 12 × 4 mm IDTS-1204, that is a real step up for a tag still small enough to sit on a fingertip, provided the asset offers a flat face about 7 mm wide.

Screw or rivet it in place

A copper-rimmed 2 mm hole at each end takes fixings sized for that hole, such as small rivets or pins, so the tag stays with the asset through cleaning and daily handling instead of depending on adhesive. That suits hand tools, jig plates, panel doors and the side rails of servers and switches.

Where 2.5 m makes a difference

In an IT asset audit, a tag on each chassis can often be read with a handheld from the front of the rack. In a tool crib, one pass along a shadow board confirms which tools are back. The U8 chip's 128-bit EPC takes your asset number and the 96-bit TID gives a fixed factory serial. For audit planning, see our fixed asset audit guide, or compare sizes in the PCB tag range.

Typical applications

  • Server and switch chassis
  • Hand tools
  • Jigs and fixtures
  • Electrical panels
  • Cylinder valve guards
  • Lab equipment racks

Frequently asked questions

How far does the IDTS-1307 read on metal?
Approx. 2.5 m when mounted on metal, which is long for a 13 × 7 mm tag. Actual distance depends on the reader, antenna, power setting and the asset, so test a sample in your own setting.
How do I fix it to the asset?
Through the two copper-rimmed 2 mm holes, one at each end, using rivets, pins or screws sized for that hole. Mechanical fixing keeps the tag in place on tools and fixtures that are handled and cleaned every day.
Will it work on steel and aluminium?
Yes. It is an anti-metal design built to be fixed directly on metal. Ordinary paper or label tags detune against metal and read unreliably, which is why tools, jigs and equipment chassis need an on-metal tag like this.
Which reader should I use with it?
Any ISO 18000-6C UHF reader. It covers 860–960 MHz, including India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band. A UHF handheld suits audits and tool-crib checks; a fixed reader suits checkpoints where assets pass close to the antenna.
