Overview

An on-metal UHF RFID bar tag for long, narrow surfaces

The IDTS-1804 is 18 mm long, 4 mm wide and 3.5 mm thick, with a mounting hole at each end and the chip sealed under a black epoxy dot. It is 3 mm longer than the IDTS-1504, which spaces the two fixings further apart. That steadies the tag on rails, channel edges, angle brackets and chassis lips, where the usable face is long but barely wider than the tag.

Reading at approx. 1 m on metal

The quoted read distance is approx. 1 m on metal. Plan for handheld reads at arm's length, or a fixed antenna placed close to where the asset stops, such as a workstation or a conveyor checkpoint. The 96-bit TID set at the factory gives each tag a unique reference even before you write your own number into the 128-bit EPC.

Heat within the rating

The −20 °C to +150 °C operating rating lets the tag stay on carriers and fixtures that pass through drying or curing stages, as long as those stages stay within +150 °C. Check that your screws and any thread-locker suit the same range. For line-tracking set-ups, see RFID for manufacturing WIP tracking, or browse the full PCB and ceramic tag range.

Typical applications

  • Rack and server rails
  • Valves and fittings
  • Machine brackets
  • Jig and fixture plates
  • Process line carriers
  • Instrument housings

Frequently asked questions

Where does the 18 mm bar shape help?
On long, narrow metal faces such as rack rails, board edges, brackets and chassis lips. The 18 × 4 mm body fits where a label or a wider hard tag will not sit, and the two end holes are spaced far enough apart to hold it steady.
How is it mounted?
With screws or rivets through the two holes, one at each end, so it does not rely on adhesive alone. The hole diameter is not specified, so check a sample against your fixings before drilling.
What read range should I expect?
Approx. 1 m when mounted on metal. That suits handheld scanning and fixed antennas placed close to the asset. Actual range depends on reader power, antenna and the surroundings, so trial a sample on your own assets.
Which UHF frequencies does the IDTS-1804 support?
It covers 860–960 MHz. That includes India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band and the ETSI 865–868 MHz band used in Europe, the UK and the Gulf, so the same tag suits Indian and export projects.
