Overview

A bolt-on anti-metal RFID tag with brass-grommet holes

The IDTS-7020 is a 70 × 20 × 3 mm PCB bar for metal assets that get knocked, vibrated and handled every day. What sets it apart is the fixing: each end has a 4 mm hole lined with a brass grommet, so the bolt or rivet seats against a metal eyelet rather than bare board. The holes are 64 mm apart centre to centre.

Where a 70 mm bar fits

A 20 mm wide bar lies along a gas cylinder collar or foot ring, a pallet-racking beam, a valve body or a die block. On racking, one tag per bay or beam lets a handheld confirm put-away and pick locations. On cylinders, the tag stays fixed through filling, dispatch and return; our guide to RFID gas cylinder tracking covers the workflow.

Reading and encoding

Mounted on metal it reads at approx. 6 m. The R3-P chip on ISO 18000-6C provides a 128-bit EPC for your serial or location code, a 96-bit TID and 32 bits of user memory. The −20 °C to +150 °C operating range lets it stay on tooling that comes back warm from presses or ovens.

Frequently asked questions

What surfaces is the IDTS-7020 designed for?
Metal. It is an anti-metal tag meant to be bolted directly onto steel racking, cylinders, machinery and enclosures, the surfaces where ordinary paper and film labels are detuned and stop reading reliably.
What read range can I expect on metal?
Approx. 6 m. Your result depends on the reader, antenna, transmit power and nearby steel and RF noise, so trial a sample on the actual asset and reader before finalising a bulk order.
Why does it have brass grommets?
The brass-lined holes give each bolt or rivet a metal seat at the ends of the PCB, which suits assets that are knocked, vibrated or cleaned down often. The two 4 mm holes are 64 mm apart centre to centre.
Can it stay on hot equipment?
Yes, within its rated range of −20 °C to +150 °C. It is a rigid PCB hard tag, not a label, so there is no adhesive to soften or peel on warm machinery.
Where should it go on a gas cylinder?
Bolt it to the collar, foot ring or a bracket, not to the cylinder body itself. The 20 mm width suits the narrow faces of a collar or ring.
