Overview

What the IDTS-7020-LED UHF RFID LED tag is for

RF reads are invisible. The IDTS-7020-LED makes them visible: a green LED on the tag lights whenever a reader interrogates it, and the light can be seen from about 2 m. That makes it a practical tool for anyone setting up a dock-door portal, positioning antennas over a conveyor, or showing a warehouse team where reads actually happen.

For non-metal items only

Unlike the on-metal tags in this range, the IDTS-7020-LED is a standard PCB tag. Use it on plastic crates and totes, timber, cardboard or plastic-bodied equipment; a tag of this type loses range when placed directly on metal or liquid. No mounting holes or adhesive backing are specified, so plan a fixing that suits your surface, such as an industrial double-sided tape or a moulded label pocket.

Specifications in practice

The 70 × 20 mm blue PCB is only 2 mm thick at the LED dome, so it lies flat. Read range is approx. 6 m; the 2 m LED figure is a visibility distance, not a read limit. The KX2005X-BL chip has a 96–240-bit EPC, a 96-bit TID and 1312 bits of user memory, and the tag is rated for −20 °C to +150 °C.

Frequently asked questions

What does the LED on the IDTS-7020-LED do?
The green LED lights whenever the tag is read, and it is visible from about 2 m. That turns an invisible RF event into something you can see, which helps when commissioning a portal, aligning an antenna or training staff. The tag itself reads at approx. 6 m.
Can I use this tag on metal assets?
No. It is not an anti-metal design, so on steel racks, machinery or metal containers it will read poorly. For metal, choose a tag from our on-metal RFID tags range, such as the IDTS-8020-LED, which also has an LED.
Is this the same as the IDTS-7020?
No. The IDTS-7020 is an on-metal tag with brass-grommet bolt holes and no LED. The IDTS-7020-LED has an LED, no mounting holes, and is for non-metal surfaces.
How do I attach it?
No mounting holes or adhesive backing are specified. Fix it with an adhesive or holder suited to the surface; on plastic crates a moulded recess or label pocket works well. Test your fixing method in real working conditions first.
Which frequency does it use in India?
It is a passive UHF tag covering 860–960 MHz, which includes India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band, and it uses ISO 18000-6C, so standard UHF readers read it.
