Overview
What the IDTS-7024 stud-mount RFID tag is built for
Most hard tags bolt through holes in their face. The IDTS-7024 fixes from underneath: a central stud on the base carries an M3 internal thread, so a single M3 screw secures it and nothing protrudes from the top face. The 70 × 24 × 7 mm body is a metal alloy housing with a PCB inlay potted in epoxy resin, finished with a glossy black epoxy top. Total height with the stud is 18 mm.
Underground and high-temperature use
The construction is specified as designed for burial in the ground, which makes it a candidate for marking buried valves, duct routes, cable joints and chamber positions that maintenance crews scan from the surface. No IP rating is stated, so trial it in your own soil and moisture conditions. The −40 °C to +200 °C operating range also covers outdoor plant and hot process fixtures.
Reading the tag
Read range is approx. 4 m, depending on the reader. Soil, water and burial depth weaken UHF signals, so confirm the working distance on site. The NXP UCODE 8 chip on ISO 18000-6C gives a 128-bit EPC and a 96-bit factory TID. The tag is not specified as anti-metal, so test it first if it will sit on a large steel surface. For field rounds, pair it with a UHF handheld reader.
Typical applications
- Buried utility markers
- Valve pits and chambers
- Cable joint marking
- Machine frames
- Hot process fixtures
- Trackside equipment
