Overview

Long-range on-metal RFID tag in a 90 × 20 mm bar

The IDTS-9020 is for metal assets you want to read from a distance rather than at arm’s length. Its 20 mm-wide PCB bar is listed at approximately 8 m when mounted on metal, which opens up fixed-reader set-ups at doorways and aisle ends as well as handheld counts. The bar is 90 mm long and 3.8 mm at its thickest point.

Where the extra range helps

  • Racking: one tag per bay or beam gives every metal location an address that can be confirmed from the aisle.
  • Gas cylinders: bolted to a collar, guard or bracket, it identifies cylinders through filling, dispatch and return.
  • Plant and IT assets: motors, compressors, server racks and switchgear frames checked on maintenance or audit rounds.

Mounting and sizing

Two 4 mm holes, 84 mm apart, take standard screws or rivets. The narrower IDTS-9010 shares that hole pitch, so both can use one drilling pattern, with the 20 mm bar going wherever you need the extra range. For fill-cycle tracking, see our gas cylinder RFID guide; other shapes are listed under PCB and ceramic RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • Rack bay locations
  • Gas cylinder guards
  • Server and network cabinets
  • Motors and pumps
  • Returnable tooling
  • Distribution panels

Frequently asked questions

How far does the IDTS-9020 read on metal?
It is listed at approximately 8 m when mounted on a metal surface. Real-world distance depends on the reader’s output power, the antenna, tag orientation and the surrounding metal, so run a trial with your own reader before a large rollout.
What is the difference between the IDTS-9020 and the IDTS-9010?
Both are 90 mm PCB bars with two 4 mm holes at 84 mm centres. The IDTS-9020 is 20 mm wide and listed at about 8 m on metal; the IDTS-9010 is 10 mm wide and listed at about 4 m. Choose the 9010 only where a 20 mm bar will not sit flat.
Does it work in India’s UHF band?
Yes. It covers 860–960 MHz, which includes India’s licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band, and uses the ISO 18000-6C air interface, so standard UHF handheld and fixed readers will read it.
Can the IDTS-9020 be supplied pre-encoded?
Yes. The 128-bit EPC can carry your rack, cylinder or asset numbering, while the 96-bit TID stays as a unique factory ID. Request custom encoding along with your quote.
