Overview

A narrow LED on-metal tag for dense racks

In a full server rack, devices sit a few centimetres apart, and a list of EPC numbers on a handheld does not tell you which chassis is which. The IDTS-6010-LED is a 60 × 10 mm UHF anti-metal tag with a green LED that flashes when the tag is read, so the auditor can see the unit that answered. At 10 mm wide it fits along a chassis edge, a rack rail or a patch-panel frame.

Reading and the LED

Data reads at about 3 m on metal; the LED flash is visible from around 2 m. The reader can pick up the tag from a little further away, and the light confirms the item once you are close to it. The KX2005X-BL chip on ISO 18000-6C provides a 96–240-bit EPC, a 96-bit TID and 1312 bits of user memory for plant codes or maintenance notes.

Build and fixing

The black PCB is 1.6 mm thick, rising to 2.5 mm at the LED dome. Three small holes sit at each end of the bar; their diameter is not specified, so check fasteners on a sample. The tag is rated −20 °C to +150 °C. If your assets have more width to spare, the IDTS-6020-LED (60 × 20 mm) is the wider LED option. For audit workflows, read the fixed asset audit guide.

Typical applications

  • Data centre rack audits
  • Server and switch chassis
  • CNC tool holders
  • Breaker cubicles
  • Warehouse bin locations
  • Trackside enclosures

Frequently asked questions

What does the green LED do?
It flashes each time the tag is read, giving a visual confirmation on the asset itself. In a rack audit or tool crib check, the operator can see which item was just captured without reading the handheld screen.
How far does it read, and how far is the LED visible?
Data reads at approx. 3 m on metal, and the LED flash is visible from around 2 m. Both depend on the reader, its power, the antenna and the metal surface.
Can it be mounted directly on metal?
Yes. It is an on-metal (anti-metal) tag for metal racks, panels, servers and tools, where paper or PET label tags are detuned and do not read reliably.
How is it fixed?
There are three small holes at each end of the bar. The hole diameter is not specified, so confirm screw or rivet size on a sample before drilling a batch of assets.
Can you encode and mark the tags before dispatch?
Yes. The EPC, and user memory if needed, can be encoded to your numbering scheme, and custom marking can be requested on your quote. The tags work in India’s 865–868 MHz band, the same band used under ETSI in Europe.
