Overview
A miniature on-metal RFID tag that mounts like a component
The IDTS-1004 is a black PCB strip 10 mm long and 4 mm wide, with its chip sealed under a black epoxy dome that sets the 2.8 mm height. Its distinguishing feature is the four copper-plated through-holes, one at each corner. On an electronics line the tag can be soldered down like any through-hole part; on a tool or fitting the same holes take pins or fine screws, so you are not relying on adhesive alone.
Read range for tray and rack scanning
The quoted range is approx. 1.2 m on metal. That lets an operator sweep a handheld along a tray of instruments or a rack of sockets and pick up each tag without lifting the items. For overhead or portal reading across a room, a larger bar from the PCB tag range is the safer choice.
Memory for production data
It is listed with a U8 or M781 chip. Both give a 128-bit EPC for your serial number and a 96-bit factory TID; the M781 adds 512 bits of user memory, enough to hold a board revision or a test-pass flag on the tag itself. Read more about tagging work-in-progress in RFID for manufacturing.
