Overview
An on-metal RFID tag that shows you when it is read
On a shelf of identical spanners or a wall of similar panels, a beep from the handheld does not tell you which item answered. The IDTS-5213-LED adds a green LED to a 52 × 13 mm on-metal PCB tag, and the LED lights up when the tag is read. The operator sees the confirmation on the asset itself, without checking a screen.
Two distances to plan around
The tag reads at about 4 m on metal, but the LED is visible from about 2 m. In practice the reader picks up data from further away, and the light confirms which item it was once the operator walks closer. Both figures vary with the reader, its power and the mounting surface.
Build and mounting
The light blue PCB bar has rounded ends; the board is 1.6 mm thick and 2.5 mm overall. A 4 mm screw hole at each end, 41.5 mm centre to centre, fixes it firmly to tools, fixtures and panels. The KX2005X-BL chip on ISO 18000-6C offers a 96–240-bit EPC, a 96-bit TID and 1312 bits of user memory, and the tag is rated −20 °C to +150 °C.
