Overview
A mini on-metal RFID tag sized for tools and instruments
The IDTS-D08 is an 8 mm round PCB disc, 4 mm thick, with a dark body and a silver metallic rim. At that size it fits on a spanner shank, a gauge body or the corner of a network switch, places where a full asset plate has no room. It is an anti-metal design, so it is intended to be fixed straight onto the metal.
Range compared with the 5 mm and 12 mm discs
Listed at approximately 1.5 m on metal, the D08 reads about three times as far as the 5 mm IDTS-D05 (about 0.5 m) while staying under 1 cm across. That gives a handheld user more working distance at a tool crib or during an IT audit. If the item can take a 12 mm disc, the IDTS-D12 is listed at about 2 m and adds two screw holes.
Mechanical fixing
A 1.4 mm hole in the disc face takes a pin, rivet or very small screw, so the tag does not rely on adhesive alone. That matters for tools that are dropped, oiled and wiped many times a shift. More sizes are listed under PCB and ceramic RFID tags.

Frequently asked questions
Will the IDTS-D08 read on a steel tool?
Yes. It is an anti-metal tag built to be mounted directly on metal, where a standard UHF label would detune. It is listed at approximately 1.5 m on metal; reader power, antenna and the shape of the tool all affect the result.
How is the D08 fixed?
The disc has a 1.4 mm hole for a pin, rivet or suitably small screw. It can also be bonded, which adds a second hold on tools that are handled heavily.
D05, D08 or D12: which should I choose?
Pick the largest disc that sits flat on the item. Listed ranges on metal are about 0.5 m for the 5 mm D05, 1.5 m for the 8 mm D08 and 2 m for the 12 mm D12.
Which reader works with it?
Any ISO 18000-6C (EPC Gen2) UHF reader operating in India’s 865–868 MHz band. For tool cribs and audits, a UHF handheld reader is the usual choice.
