Overview

A long-range on-metal RFID tag for racks and large steel assets

The IDTS-13042 is a large-format on-metal bar: 130 mm long, 42 mm wide and 10.5 mm thick, moulded in black reinforced PC. That size buys read distance. Fixed directly on metal it reads at around 12 m, so one fixed antenna or a handheld sweep down an aisle can cover a rack run or a cylinder bay without the operator walking up to every asset.

Stick it, then screw it

The back arrives with 3M 300LSE adhesive already applied, so the tag can be positioned in seconds. Two keyhole slots, one at each end, then take screws for a permanent fixing. Sites usually add the screws on assets that are knocked, stacked or handled daily, such as rack uprights, cages, stillages and plant machinery.

Room for more than an ID number

The H9 chip has 688 bits of user memory on top of a 96–496-bit EPC and a 96-bit factory TID. That leaves space to keep a location code, owner code or last inspection date on the tag itself, which helps when a handheld has to work offline in a yard or depot. Tagging cylinder fleets? Frequently asked questions

Will the IDTS-13042 read when fixed directly on metal?
Yes. It is an anti-metal design and reads at approximately 12 m mounted on metal, where a paper or PET label would detune and stop reading. Actual distance varies with the reader, antenna, transmit power, the size and shape of the metal surface and tag orientation, so run a short trial first.
How is the tag mounted on racking or cylinders?
It has 3M 300LSE adhesive pre-applied on the back and two keyhole-shaped slots (5 mm hole diameter), one at each end, for screws. Use the adhesive alone for quick fixing, or add screws on assets that move, vibrate or get handled every day.
Will it work with my UHF readers?
Yes. It uses ISO 18000-6C across 860–960 MHz, which covers India's 865–868 MHz band and the ETSI 865–868 MHz band used in Europe and the Gulf. Standard UHF handheld and fixed readers read it.
What can I store on the tag?
The EPC area (96–496 bits) holds your asset or location number, and 688 bits of user memory can carry extra data such as an owner code or inspection date. The 96-bit TID is factory programmed and unique to each tag.
How do I order the IDTS-13042?
Add the quantity you need to your quote list. If you want tags pre-encoded or printed with your numbering, say so in the request, and ask for a sample if you want to test read range on your own racks first.
