Overview
What the IDTS-6220 on-metal bar tag is built for
The IDTS-6220 is a rugged bar tag for metal assets that face heat, cold and rough handling. Its PCB inlay is potted in epoxy resin inside a metal alloy housing, giving a solid 62 × 20 × 6 mm bar rather than a plastic shell. It is rated to operate from −40 °C to +200 °C, so the same part number can go on a cold-store trolley and on equipment in the hot end of a plant.
Bolt-down mounting on narrow faces
Two 4.5 mm holes, 48 mm apart, sit in the rounded ends. Bolting through both makes the tag hard to remove or swap, which matters on high-value dies and moulds, and on cylinder neck rings that take knocks at every fill. The 20 mm width fits along a collar, flange or machine rib where a wider tag would not sit flat.
Reading the tag
Expect around 3 m with a typical reader, which suits handheld scans during maintenance rounds, tool issue or cylinder filling. The NXP UCODE 8 chip on ISO 18000-6C reads on standard UHF handhelds and fixed readers. For using tags like this on the shop floor, see RFID for manufacturing and WIP tracking, or browse PCB and ceramic RFID tags.
Typical applications
- Gas cylinder neck rings
- Dies and moulds
- Motors and pumps
- Hot process equipment
- Switchgear and transformers
- Depot tooling
