Overview
What the IDTS-D50 anti-metal stud tag is for
Adhesive tags fail on assets that are hot, greasy, repainted or knocked about every day. The IDTS-D50 avoids adhesive altogether: a threaded stud at the centre of a 50 mm disc screws into the asset, giving a mechanical fixing that stays put. It is an anti-metal design, with a typical range of about 5 m when mounted on metal, which is enough to read a tagged cylinder or mould from across an aisle with a handheld.
Where it is used
- Gas and LPG cylinders, fixed at the collar or foot ring for filling-plant and yard counts
- Moulds, dies and jigs moving between presses, moulding machines and storage racks
- Valves, flanges, pumps and gearboxes on scheduled inspection rounds
- Heavy tooling, steel cages and trolleys issued and returned against a scan
Choosing the stud thread
The stud is specified in the M3–M8 range, and internal or external thread can be customised on request, so state the thread you need when you order and match it to a tapped hole or stud on the asset. The disc is 7 mm thick and 26 mm tall overall including the stud.
Data and temperature
The NXP UCODE 8 chip on ISO 18000-6C gives a 128-bit EPC bank for your asset number and a factory-set 96-bit TID for verification. Rated from −40 °C to +200 °C, the epoxy-potted build can stay on the asset through hot process areas. Our guide on how to choose on-metal RFID tags compares mounting styles, and more formats are listed under on-metal RFID tags.
