Overview
What the ID-UWB-R40 does
The ID-UWB-R40 is the anchor for places an office-grade enclosure will not survive: hot, dusty plant floors, wet yards, tunnels and outdoor poles. Its aluminium body is IP67 and rated from −40 °C to +85 °C. Like the indoor ID-UWB-P30, it places UWB tags to under 30 cm in unobstructed space and reaches over 100 m, and it sends data over Ethernet or its own 4G link.
Antennas for the layout
The antenna is external, so it can be omnidirectional for open floors or directional for long, narrow spaces such as aisles, conveyor runs and tunnels, where two anchors facing along the run give a position along its length.
Wired or wiring-free
Identium's UWB range works in two layouts. In a wired layout, ID-UWB-P30 or ID-UWB-R40 anchors are connected by Ethernet (PoE) or their own 4G link and pass every range measurement to the positioning server, so the tags only need UWB. In a wiring-free layout, ID-UWB-B50 battery anchors are fixed in place with no cable at all, and a 4G terminal such as the ID-UWB-V10 measures its distance to them and uploads the result itself.
Options
- GNSS / RTK: lets the anchor serve outdoor and indoor-outdoor layouts.
- Hazardous areas: an Ex ib IIC T4 Gb build is available under a Chinese certificate. PESO approval is not included, so check your site's requirement with us first.

Frequently asked questions
Where should I use the ID-UWB-R40 instead of the ID-UWB-P30?
Outdoors, in tunnels and on dusty or wet plant floors. The R40 is aluminium, IP67 and rated to +85 °C, and takes an external directional antenna; the P30 is an indoor IP66 anchor.
How does it connect?
Over RJ45 Ethernet with PoE, or DC 12–24 V power with its built-in 4G link. Wi-Fi or 5G is optional.
Is it explosion-proof?
An Ex ib IIC T4 Gb build is available under a Chinese certificate. It does not carry PESO approval; ask us before specifying it for an Indian classified area.
How far apart can anchors be?
Each anchor communicates over more than 100 m in the open, but racking and walls shorten that. Anchor spacing is planned from your floor plan.
