Short answer: An NFC Google review card is a PVC or metal card, sticker or stand insert whose NTAG213 chip holds the business's Google review link as one locked URL record. NTAG213's 144 bytes fit a URL of roughly 130 characters; NTAG215 or 216 matter only for visiting cards that store a full contact. Our PVC NFC Business Card is listed at Rs 15 and our stainless steel NFC Metal Card at Rs 185, ex-GST. The reseller's real product is encoding, locking and staying inside Google's review rules.

Written for print shops, visiting-card printers, signage and acrylic fabricators, digital agencies selling to restaurants, clinics, salons and showrooms, and corporate gifting firms buying NFC cards and tags in volume. It is not a consumer buying guide.

Who buys NFC review cards wholesale, and where is the money?

The natural sellers are people who already sell something to a local business: the printer who does its visiting cards, the agency that runs its social media, the fabricator who made its counter signage. A tap-to-review card or stand is an easy add-on for each of them.

The retail spread looks wide. A March 2026 buying guide published by TapSticky, itself a card seller, puts consumer NFC business cards in India at Rs 149 to Rs 4,999. In the first week of October 2026, Tapmo's Google review card and standee bundle was listed at Rs 1,399, shown against a "was" price of Rs 2,098. On our store the PVC NFC Business Card is listed at Rs 15 and the stainless steel NFC Metal Card at Rs 185, both before GST.

Very little of that gap is chip cost. Retail pays for design, printing, encoding, a hosted profile page for visiting cards, replacements, and the phone call when a shop owner says the stand "does nothing". Price the service, not the card.

What happens, step by step, when a customer taps a review card?

  1. The phone reads the chip. Android's NFC basics page (last updated 30 July 2026) says Android devices usually look for NFC tags when the screen is unlocked, unless NFC is switched off in settings.
  2. On an iPhone, a notification comes first. Apple's page on background tag reading says iPhone XS and later read tags without an app, show a pop-up notification, and open the link when the user taps it. Background reading is unavailable while the camera or Apple Pay Wallet is in use, in airplane mode, or if the phone has never been unlocked. If a tag holds several URL records, the iPhone uses the first.
  3. Google's review form opens. Google's tips to get more reviews note that customers must be signed in to a Google Account to leave one.

So write exactly one https URL record and nothing else, and print the same link as a QR code on the card or stand. Some phones have no NFC, some owners keep it off, and an iPhone with the camera open will not read the tag.

The link comes from the business. Google's Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews gives the path: Business Profile, Read reviews, Get more reviews, Copy. It adds that the reviews QR code can currently be generated only on a computer browser. Have the owner send you the link. Never ask a client for their Google password.

NTAG213, 215 or 216: which chip does a review card or NFC visiting card need?

NXP designed all three to comply with the NFC Forum Type 2 Tag and ISO/IEC 14443 Type A specifications. They differ in memory, per NXP's NTAG213/215/216 product data sheet (Rev. 3.2, 2 June 2015).

ChipUser memory (NXP)What fits comfortablySell it for
NTAG213144 bytesOne URL of roughly 130 charactersReview cards, stands, counter stickers, visiting cards that open a profile link
NTAG215504 bytesA long URL, or a compact contact recordVisiting cards that store the contact itself
NTAG216888 bytesA fuller contact with address and several numbersDetailed contact-on-chip visiting cards

The "roughly 130 characters" is arithmetic: the URL record and its wrapper take about 8 of the 144 bytes. Paste the client's link into a character counter first. If it fits NTAG213, a bigger chip on a review card buys nothing.

The datasheet gives all three a 32-bit password, an ECC-based originality signature, a UID mirror, a 24-bit counter that rises on the first read after each power-up, 10-year data retention and 100,000 write cycles. Our NFC Business Card comes with NTAG213 or NTAG216, the NFC Metal Card with NTAG213 or NTAG215, and the 30 mm epoxy disc with any of the three.

Visiting cards need one more decision. Apple's page describes background reading only in terms of a URL record, so a card holding only a contact record may give an iPhone nothing to open. That is one reason many consumer NFC visiting cards store a link to a hosted profile page with a save-contact button. If you sell contact-on-chip cards, test them on an iPhone before quoting.

PVC or metal: what changes when the NFC card is stainless steel?

Solid steel blocks the field an NFC antenna needs, so a metal NFC card has to keep its antenna clear of the steel, usually through a non-metal section or insert; constructions vary by maker. The tap spot is often smaller and more specific than on PVC, and customers need to be shown where it is. Personalisation differs too: our NFC Metal Card is laser engraved, per its product page, while PVC cards take full-colour print.

Sell PVC by the hundred to shops and metal by the dozen to founders and sales teams; metal is a premium visiting card, not a counter review card. Before quoting a metal order, test a sample on several phones and mark the tap spot in the artwork.

Buyers often search for an "RFID metal business card". What a phone reads is NFC, which is 13.56 MHz HF RFID; a phone's built-in NFC cannot read a UHF RFID card. Our NFC vs RFID guide explains the difference if a client asks.

Which NFC tag goes inside a review stand, table tent or counter sticker?

We do not sell the acrylic stand; fabricators make those locally. We supply the NFC part behind the print. Prices are store list prices, ex-GST.

FormatStore item and priceWhere it fitsWatch for
Printed square NFC label, 35–50 mm, NTAG213 or NTAG216Printed NFC Labels, Rs 15Behind the printed insert of an acrylic stand, on table tents and menu cardsDirectly behind the tap icon, never on a metal backplate
30 mm epoxy disc, NTAG213/215/216NFC Epoxy tag, Rs 45A tap puck on the billing counterNot straight onto a steel counter; use a non-metal pad
CR80 PVC card, NTAG213 or NTAG216NFC Business Card, Rs 15Handed over with the bill or put in delivery bagsPrint the QR fallback on the back
12 × 8.5 mm sticker or 10 mm coin, NTAG213Rs 28 eachHidden inside small objects and gift boxesToo small for a stand: the coin is rated 0–2 cm
Epoxy disc on a string, NTAG213Mobile NFC Epoxy tag, Rs 60A keyring for field technicians to offer at job completionAsk, never pressure (see Google's rules below)

The coin, sticker and keyring formats are in our NFC tags category. Three placement rules prevent most "it doesn't work" calls:

  • Keep the tag close to the tap surface. A phone reads NFC only at very short range, so mount the tag directly behind the printed insert, not behind a thick panel.
  • Keep it off metal. A standard NFC tag stuck straight onto a steel stand or counter may not read at all. Use a spacer or move the tag.
  • Tell people where to tap. The NFC antenna sits in different places on different phones, so print a clear tap icon and "Tap your phone here".

How do you encode and lock a review card so nobody can rewrite it?

An unlocked tag on a public counter can be rewritten by anyone with an NFC phone and a free writing app, and pointed at a competitor or a scam page. The NXP datasheet offers two protections: lock bits, which make memory read-only for good (once set, a lock bit cannot be changed back), or a 32-bit write password with an optional limit on failed attempts.

ApproachWhat is on the chipChange it later? The risk
Google link, permanently lockedThe client's review linkNeverIf the link ever changes, the cards are scrap
Your redirect link, permanently lockedA short URL on your domain that forwards to GoogleYes, on your serverEvery client card dies if your domain lapses
Google link, password-protectedThe client's review linkYes, with the passwordYou must keep passwords per batch for years
  1. Get the review link from the owner, copied from Get more reviews.
  2. Write one https URL record. No contact record, no second URL.
  3. Test on an iPhone XS or later and two Android phones from different brands.
  4. Lock or set the password, then test again. Locking cannot be undone.
  5. Log the batch: client, link, chip, quantity, lock state, date.

Agencies that want tap reports can use the UID mirror on their own redirect link, since Google's link reports nothing back. NXP describes the chip virtually mirroring its 7-byte UID into the stored URL as ASCII, filling 14 reserved bytes. One URL template written to a thousand cards then reads back with each card's own UID, so your server knows which card was tapped; the counter mirror adds a read count the same way in 6 bytes. Keep the template short: if the mirror would run past user memory, NXP says it is not applied. If you would rather not encode, ask for pre-encoding on your quote and say whether the tags should be locked.

What can you promise a shop owner under Google's review rules?

A shorter path to the review form, nothing more. Google's Maps user-generated content policy lets merchants ask for genuine reviews without incentives and without trying to influence the rating or content. Several features clients ask for are prohibited:

Feature a client may ask forGoogle's policySell it?
Tap goes straight to the Google review formAsking for genuine reviews without incentives is allowedYes
"Rate us first": 4–5 stars to Google, 1–3 stars to a private formMerchants may not selectively solicit positive reviews or discourage negative onesNo
"Review us for 10% off" or a free dessertPayment, discounts or free goods and services for reviews are prohibitedNo
Staff insist that customers post a review at the counter before leavingMerchants should not require or pressure users to leave ratings or write reviews while on the premisesNo
Staff targets of so many reviews a dayRequesting that staff solicit a certain number of reviews is not allowedNo
Suggested review text, or "mention our staff member by name"Merchants should not request specific content, including naming staffNo

The penalty falls on your client. Google's Business Profile restrictions page lists examples of what a business breaking the fake engagement policy can face: no new reviews for a set period, existing reviews unpublished for a set period, or a warning to consumers that fake reviews were removed. One gating funnel sold to fifty clients puts fifty profiles at risk.

In India, the Department of Consumer Affairs launched IS 19000:2022, Online Consumer Reviews – Principles and Requirements for their Collection, Moderation and Publication, on 21 November 2022. The PIB release says it applies to every online platform that publishes consumer reviews and would initially be voluntary for e-commerce platforms. It does not mention tap cards or stands; check the standard's current status with BIS before citing it to a client.

What do NFC review cards, stickers and stands cost wholesale?

Our bulk pricing page publishes volume tiers: list price for 100–499 pieces, 5% off for 500–1,999, 10% off for 2,000–4,999, 15% off for 5,000–19,999 and custom OEM pricing above 20,000. Discounts vary by product, so treat these tier figures, applied to list prices, as indicative rupees per piece, ex-GST.

Chip choice, printing, encoding and locking all move the final figure, and only the quotation binds. The bulk page gives lead times of 3–5 business days at the first tier, up to 10–14 at 5,000–19,999 pieces. Minimum order quantities differ by product, so confirm them on the quotation. A counter kit of one printed label behind the stand insert plus two PVC hand-over cards is Rs 45 of NFC material at list price; everything else you charge is design, fabrication, encoding, testing and support.

Can you buy NFC cards white-label from an Indian manufacturer?

Yes. Identium Tech Solutions has made and encoded RFID and NFC products in New Delhi since 2010. Our dealer and distributor programme supplies resellers on trade terms with custom printing, pre-encoding and private-label packing, and the bulk page lists full OEM customisation from 5,000 pieces. For a useful quote, send:

  • Format and chip: PVC card, metal card, printed label, epoxy disc or sticker; NTAG213 unless the client needs contact-on-chip.
  • Quantity per design and number of designs.
  • Print: CMYK on one or both sides, or laser engraving for metal, and whether the QR goes on the back.
  • Encoding and protection: same URL on every card, one per client, or a UID-mirror template; permanent lock or password.
  • Packing and delivery city.

Ask for samples of each format and test them on your clients' phones before you commit a print run.

Google's policies and India's review standard can change, so check the linked pages before selling a review-collection feature. Prices are ex-GST list prices and indicative tier calculations, not a quotation. This is commercial guidance, not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Does an NFC Google review card work on every phone?

No. It needs a phone with NFC switched on. Android phones usually read tags whenever the screen is unlocked. iPhone XS and later read them in the background, but they show a notification the customer must tap, and they will not read while the camera is open. Print the same review link as a QR code on every card and stand.

Which NFC chip is best for a Google review card?

NTAG213. Its 144 bytes of user memory hold a single URL of roughly 130 characters, so count the client's review link first. NTAG215 and NTAG216, at 504 and 888 bytes, are for visiting cards that store a full contact on the chip. On a review card that extra memory goes unused.

Can someone overwrite the link on my review stand?

Yes, if the tag is left unlocked. Anyone with an NFC phone and a writing app can change it. Before the stand goes on the counter, either set the lock bits, which makes the tag permanently read-only, or set a 32-bit write password. Test the link before you lock, because locking cannot be undone.

Can a shop offer a discount for tapping and leaving a review?

No. Google prohibits incentives such as payment, discounts or free goods and services in exchange for reviews. It also prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews, so "rate us first" funnels are out too. Breaking these rules can get a Business Profile blocked from new reviews, or have its existing reviews unpublished, for a set period.

What is the wholesale price of NFC cards in India?

On our store the PVC NFC Business Card is listed at Rs 15 and the stainless steel NFC Metal Card at Rs 185, ex-GST. Our published tiers take 5% off from 500 pieces, 10% from 2,000 and 15% from 5,000, with custom OEM pricing above 20,000. Printing, encoding, locking and minimum quantities are confirmed on the quotation.

Is an RFID metal business card the same as an NFC metal card?

Usually, yes. A business card that a phone can read uses NFC, which is 13.56 MHz HF RFID. Metal NFC cards usually keep the antenna in a non-metal section, so the tap spot is often smaller than on PVC. A phone's built-in NFC cannot read a UHF RFID card; that needs a separate UHF reader.

Can I get NFC cards printed and encoded under my own brand?

Yes. Identium supplies resellers through its dealer and distributor programme, with custom printing, pre-encoding and private-label packing. Full OEM customisation is listed from 5,000 pieces. Send the format, chip, quantity per design, print sides, encoding plan and lock or password choice for a quotation.
