Overview

How the ID-NBC3 NFC business card works

You hand over the card as you would a paper one. When your contact taps it on an NFC-enabled phone, the phone reads the record on the chip and opens your vCard, website, LinkedIn page or WhatsApp chat. Nothing to install and nothing to type, and the printed face still works as a normal visiting card.

NTAG213 or NTAG216?

NTAG213 has 144 bytes of user memory, plenty for a website or profile link. NTAG216 has 888 bytes, enough to store a full vCard with name, phone, email and address on the card itself, so it works without an internet connection. A link has two advantages: iPhones open web links more reliably than stored vCard records, and if the link points to a page you control, you can update your details later without reprinting the card.

Design and finish options

  • Full-colour front print with your name, title, logo and design
  • QR code on the back as a fallback for phones without NFC
  • Gloss, matte or soft-touch lamination
  • Standard PVC, with matte black PVC and metal versions on request

Send your artwork and the link or contact details with your quote request; for a team order, share each person’s details so every card is encoded individually. Reselling NFC visiting or review cards? Read our wholesale guide to NFC review and visiting cards, or browse all NFC tags and labels.

Frequently asked questions

Do iPhones read NFC business cards?
Yes. iPhones from the XS onwards read NFC cards in the background, and most Android phones do the same once NFC is switched on. Older iPhones (7 to X) need an NFC reader app. The QR code on the back covers phones without NFC.
What is the tap distance of the ID-NBC3?
Up to about 10 cm, but in practice the phone is touched or held within a few centimetres of the card. Where the phone’s NFC antenna sits (near the top on iPhones, usually mid-back on Android) matters more than distance.
Can the cards be printed with my logo and encoded with my details?
Yes. Cards are printed full colour with your design and encoded with your vCard, website or profile link before they are supplied, so they work straight out of the box.
Can someone overwrite the data on my card?
Not if the chip is locked. After encoding, NTAG chips can be permanently write-locked so nobody can change the link with a phone app. Say whether you want the cards locked when you order.
