Overview

Mounting an integrated reader

An integrated reader such as the IF9A, its 4G version or the IF9C combines the reader and a 9 dBi antenna in one housing, so the whole unit has to be aimed at the read zone, usually a vehicle lane with windshield tags or a doorway. This bracket fixes the housing to a wall or a pole and holds the tilt you set at installation.

Wall or pole

On a wall or gantry the bracket screws to the surface; on a pole it clamps with U-bolts sized to the pole diameter you give us. The IF9C page lists a universal pipe clamp or L bracket with M6 bolts as its mounting; for the IF9A and other integrated readers we confirm the bolt pattern against the housing before quoting. Mount the reader so its face looks slightly down the lane, with the cable exit protected from rain, and keep the PoE injector or power adapter indoors.

Ordering

Request a quote with the reader model, the surface it mounts on and the pole diameter if any. Antenna brackets for separate panel antennas are a different part, the articulating antenna bracket; both are listed under RFID accessories.

Frequently asked questions

Does the IF9A come with a bracket?
Check the reader page for what is in the box; the IF9A specification does not list a bracket, while the IF9C page lists a pipe clamp or L bracket with M6 bolts. Give the model with your enquiry and we quote only what the reader does not already include.
Will it fit readers from other makers?
Possibly, if the housing has a similar rear bolt pattern. Send the housing drawing or the bolt spacing and we confirm before quoting.
How high should the reader be mounted on a lane?
High enough to look down at the windshield without being hit by vehicles, typically on a pole beside the barrier. The reader's own page gives its read range; aim the face at the point where vehicles stop, and test with your tags before fixing the final angle.
