Overview
What a wax-resin ribbon is for
A thermal-transfer RFID printer prints by melting ink off a ribbon onto the label as it encodes the chip. Wax-resin is the middle grade: it prints sharp barcodes on paper and coated-paper labels and resists handling and light rubbing better than a plain wax ribbon, at a lower cost than full resin. For synthetic labels, or prints that must survive solvents and heat, use the resin ribbon instead.
Matching it to the printer and labels
The ribbon must be at least as wide as the printed area, so a 110 mm ribbon covers the 104 mm (4-inch) print width of the iX4R industrial printer. For the IT4RL desktop printer and other models, we confirm the print method and the maximum ribbon width before quoting. Two details differ between printers and are confirmed when you order: the core diameter and whether the ink faces in or out on the roll. Tell us the printer model and we supply the right wind. Our blank 100 × 150 mm and 100 × 50 mm UHF label rolls are coated-paper labels that this grade suits.
Running cost and ordering
One 300 m ribbon prints a long run of labels; the exact count depends on the label length, since the ribbon advances with the label. The RFID printer price guide explains running costs. Ribbons are quoted per roll from one unit: request a quote with the printer model and the labels you print. More consumables are under RFID accessories.
