Why a spare pack

The CX1500N runs on a 10,000 mAh Li-ion polymer pack. A site that counts across two shifts, or a team that reads at full transmit power for long periods, can run it down before the work is done. A spare pack replaces the charging pause with a swap: fit the charged pack, put the empty one on charge and carry on (whether the charging cradle we quote has a spare-battery bay is confirmed in the quotation). Swap routine

• Charge the spare in the handheld overnight.
• At the shift change, power the reader down, fit the charged pack and restart.
• Put the empty pack on charge straight away so it is ready for the next swap.
• Rotate the two packs so both age evenly.

How long a charge lasts depends on how much of the day the reader transmits: continuous inventory at maximum power uses far more than occasional single reads. The CX1500N page gives the reader's own figures.

Ordering and handling

The pack is matched to the CX1500N; the voltage and rating are printed on its label. Li-ion packs are shipped and stored part-charged, kept away from heat and never punctured.
