Overview
A shipping label with a chip in it
The 100 × 150 mm (4 × 6 in) size is the standard carton and shipping label, so a UHF inlay in it lets the same label that carries the barcode and address also carry an EPC that a dock-door reader counts as the pallet goes through. Supplied blank on a roll, the labels are printed and encoded in one pass on a 4-inch RFID printer such as the iX4R industrial printer (104 mm print width), using a wax-resin ribbon; for the IT4RL desktop printer, we confirm the label width it takes before quoting.
Inlay, chip and printer set-up
The inlay inside the label is chosen for the label size and your reading distance, and the chip is confirmed at order, so the EPC memory and read performance are stated in your quotation rather than here. Before the first print run the printer is calibrated to the label pitch and the inlay position, which the printer manual covers; we supply the inlay position with the roll. For labels that go onto metal cages or drums, see on-metal labels instead, since a paper label on metal will not read. The smaller 100 × 50 mm roll suits case and shelf labels.
