The long face gives room for a batch or heat number, a barcode and a yard location on one line of print, which suits stock that is stacked and counted rather than shelved. It remains thin, bendable and printable rather than moulded, so gently curved bodies take it too. Up to 6 m again on read distance, with antenna choice and the steel around the tag setting the real figure.
