The IDTS-MPT18 is a ceramic UHF RFID tag with excellent read performance on metal surfaces and a small form factor for discreet tagging. In India it is used for weapon management, surgical equipment tracking, IT asset tracking and small equipment identification where a larger RFID tag cannot be fitted.

Does this ceramic tag read on metal, and what is its read range?

Yes. The MPT18 ceramic tag is designed to read on metal surfaces and offers a reading distance of up to 6 metres depending on the reader and antenna used. It is a passive EPC Class 1 Gen 2 tag, so it needs no battery, and its fast response antenna supports quick inventory counts.

Does the MPT18 work on India's 865 MHz UHF band?

Yes. The MPT18 covers the ETSI 865 to 868 MHz range, which includes India's 865 to 867 MHz UHF band approved by WPC and licence-free within the notified power limits. Versions covering FCC 902 to 928 MHz and other Asian frequency plans are also supported.

What is the size and weight of the ceramic PCB tag?

The ceramic PCB tag measures 18 mm x 18 mm x 2.5 mm and weighs 4 grams, and can be fixed by adhesive or embedded into the item. It sustains extreme temperatures, with EPC memory up to 480 bits, 100,000 write cycles and 50-year data retention. Bulk and OEM pricing is available.
