Key features

  • 53 × 37 × 5.3 mm body (±0.2 mm), sized for a keyring
  • About 3 g, so it adds almost no weight to a bunch of keys
  • IP67 sealed against dust and water
  • Low-frequency proximity fob for tap-to-read systems

Overview

An LF RFID keyfob built for the keyring

Cards get bent in wallets and left at home; a fob on the keyring comes along every day. This LF keychain tag measures 53 × 37 × 5.3 mm and weighs about 3 g, so it sits with house and vehicle keys without adding bulk. The moulded body is sealed to IP67, which keeps out dust and rain at outdoor gates.

How it fits your system

The fob carries a unique ID that a low-frequency proximity reader picks up when the fob is held close to it. Your access or attendance software maps that ID to a person, so issuing a fob is simply a matter of registering its number. To record fob numbers at a desk before handing them out, a 125 kHz USB desktop reader reads each ID into a PC without extra software.

Where it is used

  • Office and factory door access and attendance terminals
  • Gym, club and swimming pool entry
  • Gated communities and housing society entrances
  • Visitor and contractor passes that are collected back at exit

Keyfob or card?

Choose the fob when users carry keys and the credential must survive outdoor use. Choose a card when you need a printed photo ID; plain 125 kHz LF cards suit the same type of reader. The door access setup guide explains readers, controllers and software.

Frequently asked questions

What frequency is this keyfob?
This is the low-frequency (125 kHz) keyfob from our LF RFID tags range. Keyfobs are also made with 13.56 MHz chips for MIFARE-based systems, so check the frequency of your existing cards or reader and mention it in your quote request.
What are the size and weight of the keyfob?
It measures 53 × 37 × 5.3 mm within ±0.2 mm and weighs 3.0 g ±0.2 g, so it sits comfortably on a keyring alongside house and vehicle keys.
Is the RFID keyfob waterproof?
Yes. It carries an IP67 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water. That suits outdoor gates in the monsoon and daily handling at gyms and factories.
Can one fob be used for both attendance and door access?
Yes, as long as the attendance terminal and the door reader are both LF readers and your software recognises the same fob ID in both places. One fob per person then covers entry and attendance.
