Overview
What the T505 active RFID card does
The T505 is a battery-powered active RFID card that broadcasts its own ID on 2.45 GHz. A matching active reader picks it up from a distance, so the holder never has to stop at a tap point. Effective read range is up to 150 m, depending on the reader and antenna, and the range can be set in software. The card is designed for long battery life in a small, white rectangular plastic body weighing 22 g.
Hands-free reads for people on the move
Active cards like the T505 are typically carried by staff, contractors or visitors on large sites, or kept in a vehicle passing a gate. Readers register the card as it comes into range, which gives live presence data rather than a single tap record.
More than 200 cards can be read per second, and the number of cards in the field does not cause missed reads. That matters at shift changes and busy entrances. A fixed-frequency working mode gives the card strong resistance to interference.
Printing and choosing a reader
The card face is printable, so it can carry your logo, a name or an ID number and double as a visible badge. Active tags and readers are generally matched by maker, so confirm the reader pairing when you request a quote; active readers are listed in our Active RFID range. If you are weighing active cards against passive HF or UHF cards, our passive vs active RFID guide explains the trade-offs.
