Overview

Who the IDTS-KPL7 RFID card and password cabinet lock suits

The IDTS-KPL7 suits wooden office cabinets, wardrobes and drawers where regular users carry a card and others, such as visitors or temporary staff, use a code. Two things to settle before ordering: the card type, which we confirm in your quotation, and the fitting, which needs holes drilled through the door and a strike plate on the cabinet frame.

Fitting the keypad and lock body

The keypad sits on the outside of the door. The lock body, which holds the sliding latch and the batteries, fits on the inside face, and its latch engages a strike plate fixed to the cabinet frame. The two parts are joined through Φ8 mm and Φ15 mm through-holes drilled in the door, as shown on the installation drawing.

Check the space as well: the inside face needs a flat area for the 65 × 145 mm lock body, which stands 22 mm off the door, and the frame needs room for the 40 × 77 mm strike plate.

Send us the door thickness with your enquiry and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Code entry and batteries

Extra digits can be typed before and after the real password, so someone watching cannot pick out the code. Four AA cells (6 V) in the lock body power it, so no mains power or cable run to the cabinet is needed. Below 4.5 V it beeps as a warning; below 4 V it cannot be locked until the cells are changed.

Frequently asked questions

Which RFID cards work with the IDTS-KPL7?
One RFID card comes with each lock. If you want to use other cards, wristbands or key fobs, such as staff ID or attendance cards, send us the card type or a sample with your enquiry, and we will confirm in the quotation whether the lock can use them.
How is the IDTS-KPL7 different from the ID-RP-02 and ID-DKL-1986?
The ID-RP-02 lists the card types it reads and has a documented mode that needs both card and code, so it is the one to choose for sensitive cabinets. The ID-DKL-1986 is password-only and fits an existing 18 mm cam-lock cutout. The IDTS-KPL7 gives card or code access on wooden doors, but is fitted by drilling through the door and fixing a strike plate to the frame.
What batteries does it take, and what happens when they run low?
Four 1.5 V AA cells (6 V). They sit in the lock body on the inside of the door, so change them when the 4.5 V warning sounds; below 4 V the lock cannot be locked. If your site needs an emergency way to open a cabinet, ask us before ordering.
Will it fit my cabinet door?
It is made for wooden doors. Holes of Φ8 mm and Φ15 mm are drilled through the door to connect the keypad outside to the lock body inside, and the strike plate is fixed to the cabinet frame. Send us the door thickness (and a photo) with your enquiry and we will confirm the fit before you order. For steel cabinets and lockers, see the ID-DCL-G100, which is listed for wood and steel.
What should I order with each lock?
Each box holds the lock set and one RFID card (full contents are in the specs). Batteries are not part of the listed contents, so plan on four AA cells per lock. If several people will use one lock, tell us how many cards you need per lock and we will confirm it in the quotation. For a set of doors, send the quantity, door type and thickness, and the cards you use.
