Overview

An 86 × 54 mm UHF RFID pallet tag for non-metal assets

The IDTS-8654 is a flat, credit-card-sized plate in white ABS, 5 mm thick, meant for pallets, crates and other plastic or wooden carriers. It is a standard UHF tag, not an anti-metal one: it reads well on plastic and wood, but should not be fixed flat on steel or directly against liquid-filled containers.

Fitting it to crates and pallets

Every tag comes ready for two fixing methods. The back carries pre-applied 3M 9448A double-coated tissue tape for quick stick-on commissioning on a flat crate wall or deck board. For a returnable pool that sees heavy daily handling, add screws or rivets through the four 3.3 mm corner holes (75 mm spacing). Fit the plate in the same position on every crate so fixed readers see it consistently.

Reading and encoding

With a U8 chip on ISO 18000-6C and a typical range of about 5 m, the plate suits handheld cycle counts along an aisle as well as fixed readers at dock doors. The 128-bit EPC bank leaves room for structured pallet or crate numbering, and the 96-bit TID gives each tag a unique factory ID. The −20 °C to +80 °C rating covers chilled stores and hot warehouse interiors alike.

Plastic crate or steel pallet?

If your pallets, cages or bins are steel, choose from our on-metal RFID tags instead. For returnable plastic packaging, the guide to the 2026 plastic waste rules and reusable crates covers using RFID to prove reuse.

Typical applications

  • Plastic pallet pools
  • Returnable crates and totes
  • Wooden pallets
  • Bulk bins
  • Plastic linen carts
  • Archive boxes

Frequently asked questions

Can the IDTS-8654 be used on metal?
No. It is a non anti-metal tag for pallets, plastic crates and other non-metal surfaces. Fixed flat on steel or against liquid it will not read reliably; for metal racking, cages or machinery choose an on-metal tag.
How do I attach the tag to a crate or pallet?
Stick it on with the pre-applied 3M 9448A double-coated tissue tape, or screw or rivet it through the four 3.3 mm corner holes on 75 mm spacing. The two methods can be combined on crates that see heavy handling.
What read range should I expect?
About 5 m as a typical figure. Range depends on the reader and its output power, the antenna type and orientation, what the crate or pallet contains and the surrounding RF environment, so test on loaded crates before a full rollout.
Will it work with our existing warehouse readers?
It uses a U8 chip on ISO 18000-6C, the standard passive UHF protocol, and covers 860–960 MHz including India’s 865–868 MHz band, so standard UHF handheld and fixed readers can read and encode it.
Can the plates be printed and pre-numbered?
Yes. The tags can be supplied with custom printing and pre-encoded numbers so each pallet or crate is ready to scan. Mention your numbering scheme and quantity when you request a quote.
