Mounting, encoding and reading notes

Bibs are supplied with the tag already fitted, so the operator's work is geometry rather than assembly. Ask athletes to wear the bib flat and unfolded on the chest, outside any jacket, and build the capture zone wide enough that two competitors crossing together are both logged. Raise or tilt the antennas so each tag passes through the beam instead of skimming its edge, and leave a clear gap between the antenna frame and any metal railing. Assign EPCs to bib numbers in the registration database before race pack collection, then read-test a handful of packs on site before the first wave starts.
