Overview

Long range UHF RFID wristband for hands-free reads

The ID-UHF-WB860 is the band to pick when people should be identified without stopping to tap. With a typical read range of 1–5 m, depending on the reader and antenna, it is read as the wearer walks through a turnstile, crosses a finish line or enters a plant gate.

Where it fits

  • Sports and marathon timing: a wrist-worn timing credential for runs and multi-sport events
  • Workforce: attendance at gates and personnel tracking in factories and warehouses
  • Hospitals: patient management on wards equipped with UHF readers
  • Visitors and events: visitor and asset management, outdoor festivals and concerts

Made for daily and outdoor wear

The silicone body is fully sealed to IP68 and resists sweat, UV and repeated use, so it holds up on shift workers and at outdoor events. The adjustable strap gives one size for adult wrists; fit it snugly so the band does not rotate during a run or a shift.

Setting up the read zone

Record each band's EPC on a UHF desktop reader before issue and link it to a participant, employee or patient record. Size the read zone around a doorway, lane or turnstile rather than an open space, and test with bands worn on the wrist, since the body shortens UHF read distance. Timing projects are covered in our race timing guide; for shorter-range or HF bands, see all silicone RFID wristbands.

Typical applications

  • Marathon and sports timing
  • Turnstile access control
  • Staff attendance
  • Factory personnel tracking
  • Hospital patient management
  • Visitor management
  • Outdoor events

Frequently asked questions

What is the read range of the ID-UHF-WB860?
Typically 1 to 5 metres, depending on the reader, antenna and installation. The wearer's body absorbs some UHF energy, so test the band on the wrist at your actual gate or lane before rollout.
Can an 860–960 MHz wristband be used in India?
Yes. India's licence-exempt UHF RFID band, 865–868 MHz, sits inside the 860–960 MHz range this band is specified for, so readers set to the Indian band read it normally.
Can it be used for marathon and sports event timing?
Yes, sports and marathon timing is a listed use. Timing systems place UHF mats or antennas at the start, split points and finish and log each band's EPC as the participant passes.
Does the wristband need charging or maintenance?
No. It is passive and battery-free; the reader's signal powers the chip, so there is nothing to charge or replace between events.
Can the bands be encoded and colour-branded?
Yes. Custom chip encoding and colour branding are available on request. Mention your numbering scheme and colours when you ask for a quote.
