Overview

What the IDTS-UMHT high temperature RFID tag is for

Standard ABS tags and paper labels are typically rated to about +80 °C, which rules them out wherever a tagged part passes through an oven, a curing step or a heat treatment. The IDTS-UMHT is moulded from a high-temperature plastic and works continuously up to +200 °C, with short exposure to +275 °C for 30 minutes. The tag can stay on the part or fixture through the hot stage instead of being removed and refitted afterwards.

Where it fits on a production line

It is aimed at automotive, aerospace and industrial manufacturing processes, on metal parts where ordinary tags detune or deform. At 60 × 19 × 10 mm and 9 g it fits on a part or fixture face, and the IP68 body keeps out water and dust between cycles. With reads of up to 15 m on a fixed UHF reader, an antenna at the entry and exit of a process zone can log parts as they pass.

Data on the tag, marking for people

The Alien Higgs 9 chip holds up to 496 bits of EPC and 512 bits of user memory, so a serial number and process data such as a batch code can travel with the part. For operators, the black body can be laser-engraved, marked or fitted with a polyester label. If your assets do not see high heat, compare other on-metal RFID tags using our guide to choosing an on-metal tag.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature can the IDTS-UMHT withstand?
It works continuously from −25 °C to +200 °C and survives short exposure up to +275 °C for 30 minutes. The storage rating, for tags waiting to be fitted, is −25 °C to +100 °C.
What read range does the IDTS-UMHT give?
Up to 15 m with a fixed UHF reader. Real-world range depends on reader power, antenna, the metal surface and tag orientation, so trial a sample on your own part. The tag covers 840–960 MHz, which includes India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band.
Can this tag be used on metal parts?
Yes. It is an on-metal UHF tag, so it reads when fitted to metal, where standard paper and PET labels stop working. The IP68 rating also protects it against water and dust.
Which reader should I use with it?
Any UHF RFID reader operating in the 865–868 MHz band. On a process line, a fixed reader with antennas at the zone entry and exit is the usual set-up; for spot checks or audits, a UHF handheld reader works well.
How do I order or test the IDTS-UMHT?
Add the quantity you need to your quote list, or request a sample to run through your own heat cycle before rollout. Mention laser marking or pre-encoding in your request if you need them.
