Overview
What the ID4 RFID cable seal does
The ID4 is a pull-tight security seal with an RFID chip in its housing. Thread the polypropylene strap through a container hasp, truck door, cash bag or meter box and pull it tight; after that it comes off only by cutting. Each seal carries a printed number and barcode for visual checks, plus a chip ID that a reader confirms without anyone retyping the number.
HF or UHF?
HF: S50 or NTAG21x
Read at close range with an HF reader or, for NTAG21x, an NFC phone. Suits seal checks by a guard or field engineer at the point of inspection.
UHF: Alien Higgs-3 or Impinj Monza R6
Read from further away with a UHF handheld or a fixed reader at a gate, so sealed vehicles and cages are logged without handling each seal.
Numbering, branding and strength
Seals can carry sequential numbers up to 7 digits, an Interleaved 2 of 5 or Code 128 barcode, and your company name or logo by foil print, laser marking or thermal transfer. The strap has a tensile strength of about 35 kg: it is built to show tampering, not to stop a determined attack, so use a high-security bolt seal where customs or an insurer requires one.
