What the Cera-9 ATEX ceramic UHF RFID tag is for

The Cera-9 is a very small ceramic UHF tag for metal items that work inside hazardous areas: hand tools, valves, fittings, gauges and field instruments in oil and gas, chemical and gas-cylinder operations. At 9 × 13.5 × 6 mm and 1.8 g it fits parts that have no room for a bar-type metal tag, and its ATEX/IECEx certification is what lets a site safety team consider it for classified zones.

Build and mounting

The tag combines a ceramic body with PA6+GF (glass-filled nylon) industrial plastic, is sealed to IP68 and comes in black. It is bonded with high-performance epoxy resin, which suits curved or narrow surfaces where screws are not an option. It operates from -30 °C to +85 °C and tolerates ambient exposure from -30 °C up to +250 °C.

Before you order

• Ask for the ATEX/IECEx certificate with your quote and check its marking against the zone where the tag will be fitted.
• The tag's certification does not cover the reader. Make sure the UHF handheld reader or fixed reader used inside the zone is itself approved for that area.
• A tag this small reads at shorter distances than larger metal tags, so test samples on your actual parts with your own reader.
