Overview

What the ID-Asset UHF RFID asset tag is for

The ID-Asset is a rigid UHF tag for items that stay on your fixed-asset register for years: laptops, servers and printers, workshop tools, machinery, office furniture and hospital equipment. Because it reads at 1–6 m, an auditor can walk a floor with a handheld reader instead of hunting for each barcode sticker and scanning it one by one.

Standard or on-metal version

Standard

For plastic, wood and other non-metal surfaces: desks, monitors, PCs, chairs and cupboards.

Ferrite-backed on-metal

For IT racks, machine bodies, steel cabinets and tools, where a standard tag fixed flat on metal reads poorly.

Mounting and printing

Use screws through the mounting holes on machinery and racks, the cable-tie loop on pipes, cables and hand tools, and the 3M adhesive on clean, degreased flat surfaces. Tags can be printed with your logo, barcode, QR code and asset number, and pre-encoded so the EPC matches your register from the first audit.

The ABS or PC enclosure is IP65 rated and works from -25 °C to +85 °C, which covers offices, hospitals and factory floors. Plan your roll-out with the fixed-asset audit guide, or browse on-metal RFID tags for heavier metal assets.

Frequently asked questions

Will these tags read on metal equipment?
Use the ferrite-backed on-metal variant for racks, machines, steel furniture and tools. The standard tag is meant for plastic, wood and other non-metal surfaces; fixed flat on steel it reads poorly.
What read range should I expect?
1–6 m, depending on the reader, antenna and surroundings. Nearby metal, liquids and dense racking shorten the distance.
Can the tags carry our asset numbers and logo?
Yes. Tags can be printed with a logo, barcode, QR code and serial or asset number, and pre-encoded before dispatch so the printed and encoded numbers match.
Which reader do I need for an asset audit?
Any EPC Gen2 UHF reader working at 865–868 MHz. Most audits use a UHF handheld reader; fixed readers at doorways can log assets moving between rooms.
