What the UHF RFID cable tie tag is for
The ID4 cable tie tag looks like an ordinary nylon tie but has a UHF RFID inlay built into it. Loop it round a cable, pipe, hose or conduit and pull it tight, and that run is identified for good: a field engineer reads it at 0.5–2 m with a UHF handheld instead of checking a paper cable register or a faded marker sleeve.
Built for outdoor and plant use
The tie is UV-resistant PA66 nylon, sealed to IP67 and rated from -40 °C to +120 °C, so it holds up on rooftop cable trays, outdoor pipe racks and hot plant rooms. The one-way ratchet cannot be released once tightened; removing the tie means cutting it, which leaves a visible sign of tampering.
Choosing a length
Pick the length by what the tie has to go round, leaving enough tail to pull it tight:
- 150 mm for single cables, small hoses and patch leads
- 200 mm for medium bundles and small pipes
- 300 mm for larger bundles, conduits and pipe runs
