Overview

Compact UHF RFID door-frame reader with integrated 3 dBi antenna

The ID-IUR-3DBI-V2 combines a UHF RFID reader module and a 3 dBi antenna in one compact unit sized for a door frame, wall or counter. A separate reader-and-antenna setup needs a coaxial cable between the two, cut to length, terminated and routed; here there is nothing to connect except power and data. Read range is 1–3 m depending on the tag, which matches the width of a typical doorway or checkout lane.

Tracking items through a doorway

Besides staff cards, a short-to-mid range reader is a practical way to log tagged items as they pass a fixed point:

  • Files and document folders leaving a records room
  • Library books at issue counters and exit doors
  • Trolleys, bins and returnable crates at a warehouse doorway
  • Tagged products moving through a retail checkout lane

For item tracking the tag matters as much as the reader. Paper files and books read well with standard UHF inlays and labels, while metal bins and carts need on-metal tags. Mount the reader at the height the tags travel, with the antenna face turned towards approaching items.

Connecting to your system

The V2 outputs Wiegand 26/34 or RS485. Wiegand suits access panels and attendance terminals; RS485 suits a PC, PLC or controller collecting item reads over a longer cable. An LED and buzzer confirm each read, so staff know a file or book has been logged. State the output you need when you order.

Is a 3 dBi read zone right for you?

A 3 dBi antenna keeps the read zone tight, which helps when you want to log only what passes through one door and not the tagged stock on a shelf nearby. To read vehicles or cover a wide dock door, choose a higher-gain model from the integrated readers range. For library projects, the RFID library management guide covers tags, counters and exit gates.

Typical applications

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate antenna or coaxial cable?
No. The reader and its 3 dBi antenna are in one housing, so you only connect power and the Wiegand or RS485 data line. There is no antenna cable to size, terminate or protect.
Can it track files or library books, not just staff cards?
Yes, as long as each item carries a UHF EPC Gen2 tag. Use paper-friendly UHF labels for files and books and expect 1–3 m range, depending on label size and how the items are carried past the reader.
What is the difference between the Wiegand and RS485 output?
Wiegand is a one-way card-number output that access panels and attendance terminals read directly. RS485 is a serial link that works over longer cables to a PC or controller. The V2 is listed with Wiegand 26/34 or RS485, so state which one your system needs when you order.
Does it work in India's UHF band?
Yes. It operates across 860–960 MHz, which includes India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band, and reads EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C tags.
