Overview

NXP UCODE 9 jewellery label for tray and showroom counts

The ID-43 is a UHF RFID label for jewellery, built on the NXP UCODE 9 chip and rated for up to 8 m read range depending on the reader and setting. In a showroom that figure is less about distance than headroom: it helps when dozens of tagged pieces sit close together in a tray, a showcase or a locker drawer and must all answer one reader sweep.

How jewellers use it

  • Opening and closing counts of every tray and showcase
  • Reconciling pieces sent out for exhibitions, approvals or repair
  • Linking each tag number to weight, purity and design code in your jewellery software

Fitting and printing

Attach the label to the price ticket or tag loop so the antenna stays flat and is not pressed against a heavy gold or silver body, which detunes UHF tags. Item code, weight and a barcode can be printed on a UHF RFID printer while the EPC is written. For counter reading, pair the labels with an RFID smart tray or a desktop reader. Other shapes are listed under RFID jewellery tags, and the jewellery inventory guide covers the full workflow.

Typical applications

  • Showroom stock counts
  • Tray and showcase audits
  • Locker reconciliation
  • Exhibition stock
  • Workshop transfers

Frequently asked questions

What is the read range of the ID-43 jewellery label?
Up to 8 m, depending on the reader antenna and environment. Jewellers usually read trays at close range; the extra headroom helps when many tags sit close together.
Can item code, weight and price be printed on it?
Yes. It works with standard UHF RFID printers, so item codes, weights, barcodes or logos are printed while the tag is encoded. Labels can also be supplied pre-encoded to your numbering scheme.
Does gold or silver affect reading?
Metal right next to the antenna reduces range. Keep the label on the ticket or loop, away from the metal body of the piece, and test with your heaviest items before rolling out.
Which reader should a jewellery shop use?
A UHF desktop reader or smart tray at the counter for tray counts, and a UHF handheld for full-store audits. Both should be set to India's 865–868 MHz band.
