Overview
What the ID-9640 UHF RFID wet inlay is
A wet inlay is the RFID chip and antenna on a thin film with adhesive on the back and a release liner, but no printed face. You can stick it straight onto an item or a carton, or have a label converter laminate it under a printed paper or synthetic face. The ID-9640 combines a long 98 × 12 mm antenna with the H3 chip and 512 bits of memory.
Where the 98 × 12 mm format fits
- Library books: the narrow strip fits inside the back cover close to the spine, where it is out of the reader's way. See the library RFID guide for reader set-up.
- Solar panels: the same inlay is used for module tracking; for a printed, roll-fed paper version see the UHF RFID Solar Panel Tag.
- Assets and wine: the flexible film follows gently curved surfaces such as plastic housings, cabinets and the shoulder of a bottle.
Working with wet inlay rolls
Standard rolls hold 5,000 inlays on glassine liner, which suits hand application and converting lines; 1,000 and 2,000 piece rolls help with pilots. Encode with a UHF desktop reader, or with an RFID printer once the inlay is inside a label. A standard inlay detunes on bare metal, so use an on-metal RFID tag for steel assets.
Typical applications
- Library book tagging
- Solar panel tracking
- Asset management
- Wine bottle labels
- RFID label converting
