Overview
What the H47 UHF RFID label is built for
The H47 puts a square 44 × 44 mm antenna on a 50 × 50 mm label, with an NXP UCODE 8 or UCODE 9 chip. Square antennas generally read more evenly from different angles than long, narrow dipole inlays, which helps when cartons and crates reach a reader in random orientation on a conveyor or a pallet.
Read range and the Indian band
The quoted range of about 15 m was measured under FCC conditions, which use the US 902–928 MHz band. In India, UHF RFID runs at 865–868 MHz, and real range on site also depends on the reader's power, the antenna and what the label is stuck on, so test on your own cartons before fixing reader positions.
Choosing chip and memory
- 96-bit EPC holds a standard GS1 SGTIN-96 or SSCC-96 code, enough for most carton and pallet numbering.
- 128-bit EPC leaves room for longer in-house identifiers.
- The 96-bit TID is set at the factory, giving each label a second identifier to check against.
Our GS1 EPC encoding guide explains the numbering schemes.
Where to apply it
Corrugated cartons, plastic crates, wooden pallets and paper sacks are all suitable. Stuck directly on steel, or on drums and cans full of liquid, the antenna loses tuning and reads poorly, so tag those with an on-metal RFID tag. Typical applications
- Carton labelling
- Pallet and crate tracking
- Logistics hubs
- Warehouse inbound checks
