Overview
What this CX1500N UHF RFID handheld reader offers
The CX1500N is a 5-inch handheld with Identium's IDOS operating system and a UHF RFID engine that reads tags at 0–25 m. Transmit power is adjustable up to 33 dBm, which is useful in practice: turn it down to read only the shelf in front of you, or up to sweep an open store room. Its 2 dBi antenna is circularly polarised, a type generally less sensitive to tag orientation than a linear antenna, which helps when items sit at mixed angles on a shelf.
It supports ISO 18000-6C (EPC Gen2) and the older ISO 18000-6B protocol, which helps on sites that still have some 6B tags in service. A 1D/2D barcode imager covers barcoded stock too.
IDOS: Identium's own OS, pre-installed
Every CX1500N ships with IDOS, Identium's own operating system built on Android 15. It runs on the device's own vendor layer and kernel, so the RFID reader, barcode imager and cameras work as designed. CX Flow Pro, Identium's RFID data-capture app, comes on every unit.
- Auto RFID: the reader collects tags on its own, in any app and even with the screen off, posts them to your webhook and holds them if the network drops.
- Action buttons: the two side buttons and the gun-grip trigger can each run one of eight actions, such as scan barcode, CX Flow Pro trigger or open an app.
- CX Code Scanner: captures barcodes and QR codes into sessions and exports them to Excel, using the 1D/2D barcode imager or the camera.
- Quick-settings tiles: CX Code Scanner and CX Triggers sit in the pull-down shade; you can add an Auto RFID tile.
- Lean app set: no Google apps or services and no phone dialer, so 4G is used for data.
Your brand on the device (bulk and OEM orders)
On bulk and OEM orders, IDOS is rebuilt from one brand profile, so your brand appears from the boot screen onwards rather than as a swapped theme. Your logo, wallpapers and colours are checked before the build. Ask for a branded build in your quotation request.
Connectivity for field and multi-site work
With 4G and two nano-SIM slots, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS accurate to within 10 m, the CX1500N can send counts from a warehouse, a branch office or a roadside asset without being docked. An optional cradle handles charging and data transfer at the desk.
